Future Infiniti models.

Nissan also revealed Infiniti‘s future in the US. A future that is far less exciting than what they claimed just a couple of years ago.

Basically, the 1st and second images show a mid-cycle refresh of the Infiniti QX60. And its new QX65 “Coupe” version, coming up for 2026.

The new QX65 is supposed to remind us of the really cool original QX35. A truly original crossover design that broke ground when it came out back in 2003. This looks more like the clunky QX55, which was based on the QX50, and was basically a huge failure.

A “coupe” version of an unpopular car like the Infiniti QX50 had no chance on the marketplace. And that’s what Infiniti is doing, again, with this new QX65. It will probably fail again.

“Channeling inspiration from the pioneering INFINITI FX, INFINITI QX65 promises buyers a stylish two-row alternative in the very popular mid-size crossover segment.” Notice they mention a very popular crossover “segment”. Since their own offering in that popular segment is far from popular itself. With only 20,355 of them sold last year.

That looks like another terrible decision for the Infiniti brand. As the large 2-row crossover is far from popular these days. Nissan already has the new Murano, and that probably won’t set sales numbers on fire either. The new Honda Passport, with its newfound off-road personality and super smooth V6, has more chances.

Besides these 2, Infiniti is also getting an EV SUV ready. It will be Infiniti’s version of that new Nissan “adventure-oriented” EV SUV produced in Mississippi. And will supposedly be inspired by the QXe Concept.

sadly, it looks like the really cool-looking concept sedan didn’t make the cut…

I really think the Infiniti brand needs more. It has been neglected for far too long. And I don’t think this will be enough to turn things around…

  1. Good luck with that, you could count the number of Infiniti vehicles seen on the road on any given day with one hand, it’s about one for every thousand Toyotas/Hondas.

Maybe luxury-minded buyers don’t want to be associated with the losers who drive Nissans? Nahhhh.

  2. Infiniti is truly the Buick of Nissan. All SUVs. All sad SUVs. All sad SUVs that dont sell.
