Lincoln Convertible.
Last Updated:

Lincoln is currently, at least in the US, an SUV-only company. Their last sedan in the US dates back to 2020. When both the last generation Continental and MKZ ended production. Their last convertible was back in 1967. Ages ago, when the Continental 4-door convertible ended production.
It’s all so sad. Of course, sedans aren’t as popular anymore. Coupe even less. And convertibles are probably the most unpopular car body style these days. And yet why not? Why not give the brand a modern throughback?
The illustration above has many retro cues, while still looking more modern than anything Lincoln offers today. It would also be very refreshing to see a new Lincoln that isn’t an SUV.
It does offer the Zephyr sedan in China. It came out in 2022 and is powered by the usual 2.0-liter turbo from Ford.
Lincoln was supposed to get a version of the large Ford EV SUV that was planned for next year. The Ford version has been pushed back to 2026, and the same thing probably happened to the more luxurious Lincoln version. The new large EV will probably replace the Aviator in Lincoln’s lineup.
Buick just showed their concept for a future EV sedan for the Chinese market. Cadillac is working on 2 EV sedans. And so are many others. Lincoln will have to do the same if it wants to be successful in China.
And really, is there a better way for Lincoln to stand out than a luxurious convertible? I don’t think so…
