The 2027 Alfa-Romeo Stelvio will probably look like this.

These new illustrations of the next-generation Alfa-Romeo Stelvio SUV look pretty realistic to me. Especially since both of them match and show the same car.

We already know that Alfa Romeo has been working on new generations of the Stelvio SUV and the Giulia sedan for a while now.

As many other Stellantis products, the new Stelvio will arrive later than expected. As Alfa-Romeo (And most other manufacturers) is revising its EV plans. It seems the Stelvio was planned as an EV. However, the STLA platform is based on can also accommodate ICE or Hybrid powertrains, just like the new Dodge Charger. Instead of releasing the EV and waiting for the ICE or Hybrid models to come out later, Stelantis has decided to launch all versions at once. This means a delay, even if the EV trim is basically ready to go. It is now rumored to start deliveries in September or October 2026. Or about a year later than previously expected.

The current Stelvio is pretty far from being a hit in the US. While its best year was its first full year in 2018, with 12,000 sold in the US, that number went down to 5338 last year. And 2365 so far this year. It makes you wonder if a new one is even worth it. I remember that after the slow-selling Giulia sedan came out, they had high hopes for the SUV version in the US. Stelvio was seen as the savior of the brand.

Not only is a new one desperately needed, but it will take a fortune to actually let people in North America know that a new Alfa is coming. And that the brand is still around in the first place.

  1. Stellantis… always late to the party. And that current party is all about stealing BMWs garish designs, now that BMW is returning to a modern interpretation of its classic design via the Neue Klasse concepts. Alfa will continue to fail.
