After Years of Nothing, Chrysler Hints at a Big Comeback for 2027.

The only thing we’ve seen from Chrysler in the past few years, besides an unrealistic concept, is the revised 2027 Chrysler Pacifica minivan. Which is quite a disapointement after all these years. As all that’s new seems to be the front end. And a new badge on the steering wheel.

A new CEO is now in Charge of Chrysler, after the sudden departure of Christine Feuell. And still no news of a truly new model. However, the head of design for Stellantis US insists the brand is healthy and new models are indeed coming out. “Chrysler is alive and well, and there’s a lot going on behind the walls”. Apparently there will be an investors presentation in May where some new stuff might actually be mentioned. We could even see “something”…

We saw the futuristic Chrysler Halcyon concept a while ago. However, unlike the concept for the new Dodge Charger, Jeep Recon, and Wagoneer S, the Halcyon did not look like a production car at all. Even though the former CEO kept mentioning there would be a new model every year starting at the end of 2025. “Chrysler brand is here to stay. It is being well invested in. The brand is not on the table for elimination, and it has a very bright future.”

The first all-new model in years was supposed to be a brand-new SUV based on the STLA Large platform and heavily related to the Jeep Wagoneer S, with its own design and interior. Not a Halcyon-based sedan. That EV was of course put on hold. And is probably now neing re-engeneerd to accept old fashion powertrains like Gas or a Hybrid. On top of the EV. Jusat like what Alfa Romeo has been doing with the secong generation Stelvio, based on that same platform.

This could finally be good news for the brand. Since SUVs are what people buy.

The illustration above shows what a new STLA-based Chrysler SUV could look like. One that is not based on the Halcyon concept. A softer, more luxurious version of the Jeep Wagoneer S.

I personally think it’s really not what Chrysler truly need and doesn’t look special enough. Chrysler claims they want to fill “white spaces” in the Stelantis lineup. A Chrysler version of a Jeep or Alfa SUV isn’t really creating anything new. A cool wagon or a new Chrysler 300 wagon would.

And of course, especially a new Cordoba Luxury coupe…

  1. Hahahahaha! Chrysler is toast. The brand will be gone before the end of the decade. And the only way Dodge survives is if they roll Ram back into it once again.

Stellantis has been run by idiots for far too long… The damage is done.

  2. Its about time they got rid of Christine Feuell. Two brands did absolutely nothing under her. No surprise…she came from Honeywell which is the mothership of toadie political do-nothing. I hope I’m wrong. But at this point, I’ll believe Chrysler will have a new vehicle when one hits me in the crosswalk… just like Alfa.

btw- I didn’t realize that Tim Kuniskis had retired from Dodge. That’s a shame. He really was the one that kept that brand alive all this time. And the new CEO of Chrysler (Matt McAlear) is now also over Dodge and Alfa Romeo. I hope he does something unique with Chrysler, and not just making a Chrysler version of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. A coupe luxury Cordoba would be a great warning shot to the industry. Reality is it’ll be an SUV.
