2020 Chevrolet Trax
Last Updated:
Since GM is killing the Cruze sedan in the US, it looks like the new Trax will basically take its place.
From this teaser, we can see a design that isn’t that clean or simple.
There seem to be quite a bit of wavy lines everywhere.
I guess they are trying to make it look like a small Blazer, but it might end up looking like it
is melting…
The new Chevrolet Trax will be joined by an equally new version of the popular Buick Encore. And a new GMC version as well.
I think it looks a lot better than the present generation– at least from the teaser. Like Ford, it looks like Chevy is aiming its styling towards making present compact sedan/hatch owners at least sort of happy. Possibly a similar sized "more butch" SUV will follow like the Bronco.
Looking forward to the GMC version
Can't be any worse than the ugly one they have now.
Isn't this bigger than the Trax?
I thought you'd shown this as a Chinese Chevrolet a few months ago. They could use a CUV between the Trax (which is very narrow) and Equinox.
Literally ANYTHING will be better than the current Trax/Encore. 3rd world designs lightly modified for the US.
I wonder if they're planning to cut the thickness of the steel body panels to save cost and weight? Why else would so many creases be necessary.
Ah, so they're playing the game of "how many character lines can we fit on a panel."
Expecting something overwrought….
Let’s see how underpowered Chevrolet will make the Trax. Maybe the want to have it powerful less then HR-V and the C-HR. The subcompact class is about price and who can putin the weakest powertain it seems.
This will be the return of the TrailBlazer not the the Trax.
Word is that this is not the new Trax, but another crossover to be slotted between the Trax and the Equinox, and possibly called “Trailblazer”. Whatever it is, it’ll be announced at the upcoming Detroit show.
Hopefully. GM will make the new gen Trax/Encore wide enough to fit a proper consoles between the front seats. Those cheap looking old school minivan inspired seat mounted flip down armrests on the current gen versions are definite deal breaking eyesores to me. The exterior designs would also benefit from longer wheelbases and better proportions. With GM completely abandoning the small car segments, it will definitely need to nail every aspect of these next gen small crossovers.
The preview doesn’t look too promising (it already looks rather odd and awkward), but I will wait until it is fully revealed before I make a final judgment. Considering how bad GM stumbled on the exterior design of the Cadillac XT6, I don’t have much faith in their design decisions at the moment. I sincerely hope GM proves me wrong.
The Chinese one shown a few months ago was essentially a long wheelbase Blazer. Definitely way larger than this vehicle.
