2016 Chevrolet Cruze
Last Updated:
It’s all new and it doesn’t look at all like the previous one.
Something that cannot be said of that many cars these days.
I think it looks a bit busy. For my taste. Which ends up being a bit anonymous.
And the interior needs to loose all the small shiny bits. Brush aluminum is the way to go.
(Unless that’s just the picture…)
But the current model is a really good car. And this seems to be better in every way.
-All new 1.4 Liter Turbo engine with 153HP. Standard.
-40MPG Highway
-Lost about 250 pounds
-Wireless phone charging option
-Heated steering wheel option.
-Rear heated seats option
-Diesel model for 2017
-Apple CarPlay
This is all good news for the compact sedan buyer. Really.
But I think the “wild card” for 2016 will be the all new Civic.
Which will be available as a sedan, coupe and hatchback.
(A hatchback Cruze is also coming to the US)
To me it seems to generic. Nothing special to draw me to this car.
Anyone else see the current Impreza/WRX in this?
Well done GM. This is a really nice car. It's gone from 'also ran' to class lead in my opinion.
I think the Civic will continue to do well, but will lose share to this. I'd bet you that Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai and Ford are all a bit nervous right now…..the only car that comes close to style is the 3.
Of GM's 3 new compact sedans – Verano, Cruze, and Volt – the Volt is now the most attractive option. The Cruze and Verano just don't quite come together as designs.
The headlight shape is a slight interpretation of the first one (and the fog light area from the 2015s), as well as the game black plastc window.

Looks decent, I would rent one!
I think it looks great and the Turbo as standard is a great idea to get 40MPH.
Fantastic. Light years better than the current Cruze and much better than Focus, Civic, Corolla. Plus it dropped 250lbs and 153hp standard? Zoom zoom.
I think that GM did a good job with the 2016 Cruze for Northamerica and, Thank God, they decided not to bring here the Chinese version, which resembles a lot the so boring and old-looking Dodge Dart. Instead we have what I think is a correct update to this best seller!!!
Introducing the all new Chevy Civic!… Err, I mean Cruze. It's a better looking Honda Civic than the actual Honda Civic. No, but in all seriousness, if you took the bow ties off and slapped some H badges on that thing, even Honda fanboys would think it was the next gen Civic.
Wow! Chevrolet finally delivered an awesome looking compact sedan! What a revelation!
I never thought I would be saying this, but it looks like Chevrolet will have the sexiest mainstream sedan lineup (current Impala, new gen Malibu and Cruze) in the industry! That's a very important accomplishment for them!
