2016 Hyundai Tucson

Hey, that looks really nice!
Really, one of the best Hyundai design in recent years, I think.
I mean, imagine this parked next to a CRV. Or even an Escape (Which I actually love and is a great driving car)
Base engine is a 2.0 Liter with 164HP. Rated at 23/31MPG
Their 1.6 Liter turbo (From the Sonata and new Optima) is an option. Producing 175hp. But only bumps the MPG to 26/33.
I like it so much, I would no mind owning one.
Of course it looks good, because it's just a smaller version of the Santa Fe Sport. 🙂
Definite improvement over the old one, inside and out. Those wheels are hideous though.
Vince you're on a roll. I agree 100 percent with your comments on this vehicle. Finally, a design I can get in front of and say very Nice! I mean this makes all the other previous iteration of the Hyundai Tucson look like an accidental attempt at design.
But this one is so well thought out and it really does look like it will ride and handle well. The only thing that I am not so enthused about is the really anemic base 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder engine which produces a decent 164 horsepower but a depressing 151 pound-ft-torque. This is consistently a major problem with Korean engines-no guts!
But they are pushing the 1.6 liter turbo over this. I don't think they'll have any problems selling this in greater numbers over the existing forgettable model it replaces. Damn it, though I wish Hyundai knew how to build a normally aspirated 4 cylinder with some real guts maybe they can borrow a 4 cylinder from Honda.
I agree. It looks great inside and out.
As far as the exterior, it looks like the current gen Tucson spent some quality time in the gym and this new version is the awesome result. The exterior design went from soft and curvy to buff and toned. It is a definite improvement. The only thing missing is the nicely executed chrome molding below the side windows. The version revealed in Geneva had the molding and it made the exterior design look even more upscale and distinctive. I hope Hyundai will be offering it on the U.S. version too.
The interior design is definitely not cutting edge, but it looks classy and well executed.
I think this CUV will be another hit for Hyundai. It's an important segment and Hyundai appears to have nailed it.
