Something you don’t see every day…
Last Updated:
The good old Pontiac Fiero from the mid eighties.
(Before the “sporty’ GT model came out)
I always thought they looked nice. And in modern traffic, it still looked good.
But…. I almost never see any around anymore.
Here is how they used to sell it. Like a sports car.
But with a standard 2.5 Liter engine and around 90hp, it was anything but a sports car.
(Although a year later the GT V6 was introduced.)
Pontiac Fiero 'from the mid-sixties.'
??
I don't think so. There is no such thing.
Did you mean 'mid-eighties?'
I hope you meant to type Mid-Eighties
I hope you meant to type Mid-Eighties
Mid-sixties? LOL
"mid sixties"? nigga, what you smoking?
Sixties ??? Pretty modern for that era.
The mid sixties? I think not.
Pontiac wanted a "sports car" but management would only fund the project as a "commuter car" -hence the weak engine in the beginning. Like the Corvair and Solstice this was another GM-tragedy created by bringing a crude product to market and letting engineers "test and refine" based on what went wrong with customer's cars. In the end the V6 version with much better styling was a decent car but it was too late.
Sorry for the mistake. Of course t was eighties and not sixties…
When the Fiero was first released in 1984 they had some kind of a big press event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Ohio which was near where I lived. But prior to that they had them on display at the local Pontiac dealer. I When I first saw them I was amazed. They were so different than anything else on the market at that time. But the coolest thing was those stereo speakers the headrest. It was like wearing headphones! I guess those were only around for the first year due to the safety concerns.
Pontiac builds…………..absolutely nothing anymore.
