Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S Convertible
Last Updated:
These are the pictures of the production version. Which will look the same, pretty much, as the concept we saw a few months ago.
They did a really good job as the car looks very nice with the top up.
Something Nissan is still unable to do with the Z Roadster.
I am almost getting used to the design of the FR-S, seeing a few of them around.
But that horrible interior is still shocking whenever I see it up close.
It is just too bad….
As a SCION it should sell. As anything more–don't hold your breath. the 2-seat, too small for 2+ sets of clubs ragtop market is pretty saturated. Too bad they couldn't open a NEW niche, like that for a hardtop convertable that seat FOUR ADULTS COMFORTABLY; PLUS 4 sets of clubs. A market that only Rolls Royce and Chrysler seem to have any interest in even getting close to.
I'd like to see more power on the menu myself.
To be quite candid… This vehicle doesn't look all that great with a top, and without one it looks positively anonymous.
Seems many don't get this car. And those who don't get it are not true driving enthusiasts. Hard top convertible? Obviously you are one of those that dont get it.
FR-S/BRZ styling is SUCH a disappointment. After all of the hype, they are a big letdown.
And I agree with Vince. The Scion's interior is embarrassing. They really have a nerve to expect buyers to look over the cheapness.
It's almost like Subaru and Toyota haven't heard about the Miata (MX-5). Or maybe they truly believe that they can score in this category with a car that offers a little less in every way: looks, personality, style, interior quality, etc.
That strategy works with the Corolla, but it may backfire with a small convertible.

I'll pit my M3 Hardtop Vert against your anemic rice burner any day!
"Real" diving ENTHUSIAST. HA!
I would still take a Nissan 370z
M3 driver, thanks for proving my point. LOL
6-speed, when you grow up you'll realize that you don't need a car to feel like it's going 400MPH when it's really only going 55MPH–just to feel like an enthusiast. The teniored enthusiast appreciates a machine that can do 200MPH with total composure and absolute silence — just like a Lear Jet on take off.
Thanks for proving my point….again. Wow!
At least you have a sense of humor, 6-speed!
