2013 Honda Brio Amaze
Last Updated:
Do not worry, this “Amaze” is not coming to the US.
It is staying mostly in India and Thailand where it is built.
Still, it has to be one of the worst Honda design, ever produced anywhere.
Of course it is cheap. But this is no excuse. Pretty shapes and good proportions do not cost more.
It is about 15 inches shorter than the current Fit. Even with the ugly trunk sticking out.
Power comes from a 1.2 Liter engine with 90hp. 5 speed manual and CVT are available.
Seems that Honda has been pushing CVTs lately…
This is the “regular” Brio. Not a beauty contest winner, but much better looking as a hatchback.
A car that small should never have a trunk in the 1st place.
It'll sell like hot cakes, nonetheless. There's great pent up demand for these small sedans. Moreover they are launching it with fuel sipping diesel engines. Add the typical Honda reliability and Honda has a winner on its hands.
Might do well in the US, if launched against the substandard Chevrolet Aveo.
How odd.. the hatchback appears to have the greenhouse of a sedan, and the sedan seems to have the greenhouse of a hatchback! Neither one has cohesive styling or even a whiff of desirability about it.
Actually, I used to think the same as you Vince, that good design doesn't cost more. But 6 years working in the automotive industry have taught me that it does. As in any other discipline, there are designers who are better and others who are not so good at their job. And the former quite logically command higher salaries. Which means not everybody can afford their services. So when you have to settle for designers who earn less, the result will probably be a second-rate design. You do get what you pay for, in every field.
Amaze? Amazing to a 7 year old girl maybe.
Ok the front is ok, not horrible. The sides and the back are really laughable. If they would put the "shield" on the front they would get worst design ever award.
Amaze?
Aptly named, I suppose, because I am Amazed anyone would buy such a horrendous piece of crap.
Amaze that an adult would by one.
Do hotcakes sell?
You do realize that grain is poisonous to humans…right? Hear of Diabetes?
Honda…listen up, fire your designers!!!!!! It is so sad to see a nameplate fall from grace to this extreme…I don't care where it's being sold.

The Aveo is no longer sold in the United States. It was replaced by the much better Sonic. The Fit competes with the Sonic. The Brio is smaller than the Fit. The Brio was never meant to compete in the U.S. so it isn't surprising that it isn't attractive to any of you. This is a cheap car for Thailand and India. Those consumers have different needs than we do. For this cars intended market, it looks OK. I wouldn't want one, especially on a U.S. roads where everyone around me drives full size pick-up trucks.
Same reason that American styled cars don't sell overseas.
Welcome!! Yes it is Amazing , simply AMAZING technology packed with royal look …….!!!!!!!!!
Its almost tough to compete with Swift Dzire in sedan segment as people have blind trust in Maruti but Amaze is a perfect combination of style and mileage.
It does not look bad at all. But unfortunately Honda in order to compete with Maruti has come out with a car which does not reflect Honda's absolute devotion called "impeccability". Maruti Suzuki knows Indians, as a Parent would know his child. Maruti always come out with a product which is not only very convenient to buy but at the same time maintains the highest international quality. HONDA KNOWS THAT IT'S MARKET SHARE WILL NEVER GO UP AS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TOWARDS DIESEL VEHICLES. So they have come up with a vehicle to compete with Maruti Dzire in the segment. As far as Dzire is concerned it looks and performance both are unmatched in the segment. Maruti doesn't compromise in quality when it comes out with a product but unfortunately AMAZE does not absolutely reflect the Finesse Honda stands for though it still looks very nice, but it's a profit driven decision to come out with this car than a decision which reflects Honda's Brand Greatness. Maruti will always have the last laugh!!!
