2013 Chevrolet Malibu
Last Updated:
Another new picture from GM.
And I am pretty sure now that I like the current car much better.
There is something a bit different, even special about the current generation Malibu.
Not sure what it is, but it’s gone from this one.
The one on sale now has a simpler, more mature design. This one is just more generic, trying a bit too hard.
Or something….
We’ll see…
Seems like they're trying to hide that rear 1/4 of the car…it looks somewhat like it slopes down?! I do like the front though
Quite handsome and muscular looking… Nice Job GM!
I totally agree with you, Vince. The current design has a certain elegance to it–almost a limo-like look in darker colors. This just looks like a LaCamry with a Chevy grill. Being generic may help sales, but it won't help Chevy's image one iota.
Maybe you're right. But one thing is for sure: the new tailight are a real improvement. The current one
are so cheap. They never fit beside the classy design. Just wait to see the whole car Vince and compare.
Le Québécois
So far, so good! Can't wait to see the entire car! I think this will be one of the best looking midsize sedans on the market when it comes out.
I think this is just a Bad picture…. I still have high hopes for it though…. to me theres always been something just alittle off about the current generation… its almost like its a little unfinished….hard to explain
I'm gonna disagree, Vince. I never liked the current car's C-pillar or the taillights. At least GM addressed those 2 things I didn't like.
I know what you are saying Vince, the front looks brilliant, but i think the rest of the car sucks, the rear window line is awful, i like current models body.
It looks like GM updated the Maliby having the Taurus in mind.
Looks good so far. But, I'm seeing a hint of the old Buick Regal/Century ('97-'05) in the c-pillar.
I see old BuicK Century/Regal in it's hind quarters tooo…NOT GOOD!!
Looks like an rebadged Buick. NOT GOOD
BAD GM, Bad.
Makes me think of an Americanized Epica
This new design seems totally lifeless…like a Buick Lacrosse with no emotion.
Looks better than the Honda Accord
Looks like the Malibu has lost its edge, both literally and figuratively, with this design. Too melted. Too bad.
…best to just wait and see..view the real production car in a dealership showroom or parking lot. The majority of these online car photos are fake anyways..they are computer generated by the manufacturers…with computer generated backgrounds. So we are mostly getting a false viewing. This is nothing new..in my city of Vancouver, Canada, there are tons of american tv and films shot here. The most recent is AMC's, ''the killing''…which is filmed here in Vancouver, but set in seattle..so the producers toss in Seattle skyline scenery but film the actual scenes on our local city streets and buildings. Same idea with these ''leaked'' cars and with jeeps (with not a spec of dirt) posing on some huge mountain top next to a billy goat, or a corvette cruising down a los angeles style freeway with 42 lanes and no car in sight. All smoke and mirrors! ~~Tony from Vancouver.
I was not sure at first but I start to like this design. It has a more muscular shape, it looks bigger.
The current Malibu is awesome but it can't stay the same forever.
I'll have to see the whole car to have a final idea.
The current car has a "formal" C-pillar (like the VW PHEATON). Personally, I like the formal look better. More unique these days. but "to each his own". Mabey this new "more pedistrian" roof is more to the liking of those in the $15k-$25k price range.
I like the added upper rear "Camaro-ish" fender line as well as the new taillamps. Like Tony above, I feel that seeing one in person will make all the difference. For instance I saw a load of pics of the new Buick Regal online and was bored…but then one day in traffic I came upon a hot little sedan that I didn't recognize…and yep, it was the Regal. Don't be fooled by photos!
Further it's clear that Chevy is more in touch now with what made them widly popular in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I'm holding my breath for a new Impala that brings back some of that magic. Listening, Chevy management?
