2013 Ford Fusion
Last Updated:
For the 2013 model year, both the US Fusion and Euro Mondeo will be redesigned and will pretty much become the same car.
Like they almost were in the good old days of the Ford Tempo…
This is just an illustration of what it could look like. But I’m sure it will look pretty good no matter what. After seeing the 2012 Focus sedan.
It will be competing with plenty of improved or new models when it comes out. Like redesigned versions of the Malibu, Accord and Camry.
On top of the already excellent current crop of mid sized sedans.
Looks nice
Ford has come a long way. I guess the rocket man knows what he is doing. Lets see if they are reliable as they have promised quality all my life but never delivered.
why did they crop out the side mirrors??
I think you mean Contour which was a twin of the first Mondeo, and not the Tempo.
This look is fine for econo cars but looks a bit kiddish/cheap for a midsize. I like the current one better. Too much Sonata in this for me.
"Good old days of the Tempo"?????–you're kidding, right? Mom had a Tempo and it was the worst piece of crap we ever owned. Even made camry's & Accords look good. That's pretty bad.
The current Fusion is a very good car (and its MKZ cousin is just about PERFECT!) Hope Ford doesn't screw it up by getting all cutesy-new-wave-like.
I like most of the new Ford products, but the Fusion did not impress me. Let's hope they upgrade the interior and suspension while they're at it.
Agreed with the Contour comment.. the Tempo was a completely US design, though the Euro Sierra was the obvious styling influence.
Kinda sad how the Fusion over the years developed an instantly recognizable face (whether or not one liked the funky original headlights or the massive chrome bars of the second version). It looked like a Fusion.
This "world car" is generic. Like an old Mazda 626. Bad. Very bad.
(Anybody remember the AWD Tempo? LOL!)

HAVE YOU DRIVEN A FORD L A T E L Y ??? They've been WAY ahead of Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota & Mitsubishi for a solid 5 -7 years now. Even still edging out Hyundai & GM. And lightyears ahead of Toyota–Especially after all of Toyota's quality problems.

I kinda agree. The Fusion is good-looking on the outside (Malibu & Maxima & Avenger are all better though)… but a dissappointment on the inside. ESPECIALLY now when compared to the new Chrysler 200 & Avenger. But Reliability & performance-wise the current Fusion has no peers — pretty much everything else is worse in at least one area or another. Compared to the new Tarus & Focus & Fiesta; Fusion is pretty long-in-the-tooth; but compared to everybody in the mid-size segment it's STILL at the top of the pack.
If Ford makes it look like this I'll buy it. I saw some spy pics a year or so ago and was NOT impressed AT ALL!!! It looked like a cheap looking Focus. But this looks great. I'm hoping for a high power 2.0 DI turbo with a DSG and all wheel drive myself. I was originally hoping for the Regal GS but since it's going to be slow and not have all wheel drive that's a no deal for me so hopefully Ford does'nt goof this one up.
Oh… fix the side view mirrors:)
Just another overpriced wimp mobile from Ford.
No sir, I don't like it. It looks fresh and clean, but that's about it. The current Fusion is still better. It's too bad they won't squeeze in the new 4cyl Ecoboost for an SEL special edition or something in the current Fusion's last (2012) year.
Looks good from the front shot. It seems like Ford has come a long way. I drove a Taurus back in the late 90's for a few days and wasn't impressed; it had no power at all, I felt like I couldn't even accelerate. If reliability and quality is up to par with the Japanese car makers like Toyota and Nissan then I think that is quite impressive.
This is a solid design. Would love to see more shots from other angles.

You're pretty easily impressed.
BTW; Mr. Rip Van Winkel; Nissan is a French Company (Snatched from the jaws of Bankrupcy when the Japanese lost control & the French took over) Which explains why Nissan/Infinitys are lightyears ahead of Toyota/Lexus/Scion/Honda/Acura/Subaru/Mitsubishi in Styling & Design & ergonamics in general.
Calling recent Nissan products light years ahead of styling is like saying Britney Spears has better musical talent then Justin Beiber….
New Quest?
Juke?
Versa?
Current Gen Murano?
Any of the SUV's?
Don't even get me started on quality.
This looks ok. I don't need a midsized sedan, though.
Wonder how much this will cost, considering the prices for the 2012 Focus(especially the "better" models/loaded).. cost 22-23,000 dollars.
I thought the 'car' in the rendering was just OK…
…until I did a handful of quickie chops trying out various frontends as the nextgen Fusion.
Now imho it has a LOT of potential
and may even be an accurate forecast of how they're going to look!

I get your point. I was thinking of the Z, Maxima, Altima, and most of the Infinity Line. Obviously Juke, Versa & Murano show a lapse in (styling) judgement. My point was that Toyota & Honda really have NOTHING that's good-looking and that Ford Quality has been vastly superior to Toyota or Honda for the past several years now.
Never had a problem with my 06 Accord. In fact, chose it over the Fusion due to better price and more features.
But like the new Taurus and hope the new Fusion lives up to the hype.
Why does Lincoln continue to miss the mark with buyers?
