More pictures of the Chrysler 200
Last Updated:
They still won’t show us most of the car. Only the new parts.
And the changes do look good, at least on the pictures. A black car with a bit of chrome and great lighting.
But most of the car is still the old Sebring sedan.
Seems that they tried to use many design elements from the 200 Concept, on the Sebring body.
We’ll see if it works…
so far – i hate to say it – it looks AWESOME!
They sure seem to want to avoid showing us the full side profile. Only a 3/4 view from the front. They are also avoiding the 3/4 view from the rear..
I think a lot of people already realize that the roof line of that car is the real weakness in its exterior styling. The new front and rear is going to make the car more acceptable but it is still going to have that c pillar as a major shortcoming.
But still, if they get the interior right, it can be a fairly good success. It most certainly will sell better than the Sebring.
This piece of reskined crap destined for fleet sales mostly.
Given the limited time they had to do this, I think the new front and rear ends look great. Unfortunately, the greenhouse, with that little black plastic triangle had to stay, but otherwise very nicely done. All new interior is supposedly up to Lexus levels of refinement. Big improvements in powertrains and suspensions. 4 speed trans is for fleet only. A very nice effort.
I've had Chrysler products in the recent past and had good luck with them but have to wonder if there's a real market for this car other than fleet buyers.
I don't know what you people are talking about. The front and rear design . . .the fit and finish . .are literally light years beyond anything I had expected from a re skinned sebring.
Yes the roof line and c-piller are the same – and yes the plastic triangle is still there – BUT, if that's all there is too complain about, then I'd say they did a FANTASTIC job!
Coming and going, this new design presents itself with the quality and sophistication of cars in much higher price leagues. Truly understated, sophisticated elegance.
Let's hope that being sandwiched between these new from and rears, the mid section wont seems so bad.
All in all – as gargantuan leap forward.
The car doesn't look that bad. If you look at it's overall sales in 2008 (right before the crash), they managed to move 70k units. By the way, since then, they've still managed to sell such a lame design 30k people a year.
I think it will do okay (as in… recapture some of its lost sales as we head out of this recession) and will probably move 50K units or more next year – depending on when it debuts.
Whats the difference? This thing is stll crap with a crap drivetrain. Fiat cant make the drivetrain better.
I like the direction – and think it is a vast improvement.
However consumers don't care about vast improvements – they care about competitiveness within a category.
I'll hold judgement until it's driven and we see the interior.
I just saw a current model on the road – and realized that the greenhouse profile is actually kinda cool/unique and may bode well with the sleek front an rear.
So thats another thinkg to cross of the list, so perhaps the only issue left weill be the triangle on the c-pillar. If all else has been addressed, and theyve created a more cohesive looking desieng that work WITH the greenhouse, then this car could very well be of interest to me – because lord k nows I REALLY dig what they did front and back.
Why would I ever choose this over the new Optima?
Q:Why would I ever choose this over the new Optima?
A: It looks better. A LOT Better.
And it comes with a more modern (and MUCH more powerful) Pentastar V6. And a more sophisticated suspension. And even if it doesn't have the bar-raising 6-speed of the Town & Country; the 4-speed version they've been using the last several years has been rock-solid dependable (which is more than I can say for Toyota's offerings these days–or Hyundai's)
"the roof line of that car is the real weakness in its exterior styling." -I CALL BS! And I suppose you've actually SEEN a side view of the NEW car??? Give me a break. A roof that looks great on one style (Think Audi A6) may look goofy on another body (think Saturn Ion)
You'ld have to be a pretty stubborn & closed-minded ChryCo Hater to cross THIS beauty off your list!!!
"Fiat cant make the drivetrain better."
Are you saying that Neither Ferarri nor Masarati can build a drivetrain that's better than the outgoing Sebring???
Are you trying to insult Chrysler or compliment them???
Yeah! a chrysler crap box with a Ferarri drivetrain…LOL! Fiat drivetrains are for little Euro clown cars. Fiat has nothing to do with anything other than Fiat crap.

Have you seen a side profile of the 200? Not likely. So, it isn't fair to pass judgement until it is seen. However based upon the current Sebring – it is fair for auto enthusists to be reluctant in singing praise of this car.
Yes, we get that you're a rabid ChrCo fan – awesome. Good for you! However, with good reason, there are a bunch of people that aren't.
If you even both asking what 'good reason' is – then simply, you haven't been paying attention for about 10 years.
All this said, I think the 200 has the opportunity to be a great car. I'll pass final judgement until I see / drive it. However, based exclusively on what has been done so far – I'm impressed.
Beauty? Seriously? I wonder what your wife looks like,,,LOL.
They're really shying away from showing the b and c pillar areas. I'm dissapointed that there are no interior pics yet but I'm sure they're coming. I was hoping for an all new model but considering that Chrysler is on the way back from the brink of extinction, I'd say this is a decent effort….. for now.
The VW 2.5L is from Lamborghini…So they try to make the little people think. The Chrysler I4 is not too bad and their new V6 is from Mercedes who do a pretty good job with engines.
Is this…"thing" still built in Mexico? Weed isn't the only thing that we need to stop from making it across the boarder. No offense to those that smoke Marijuana.
Just because the Pentastar V6 may show up in some future $50k-$90k Mercedes models doesn't make it a Mercedes — on the contrary — its P U R E CHRYSLER.
It seems there will be more sharing of engines, transmissions, & suspensions between Merc & Mopar in the next 4 years than was origionally claimed — both ways. Chrysler building "next gen" V6 & V8 gas engines with Mercedes doing 2.8-3.8 Diesels and Fiat supplying small diesels (all 3 engines across all 3 brands.) Long run, we'll probabally see less expensive versions of the Masaratti V8's for 4.0L +/- and Chrysler "392 HEMI"s for the more powerful cars — across the board. Lot of Legal stuff still being worked out yet, but don't expect anything from Fiat, Mercedes, Dodge, Chryser, Masarati, Jeep, Fiat, Smart, Ferrari, or Ram to be "purely" a product from the name on the hood for several years yet.
I'd like to know if Fiat is going to put their ram air into the 4 cyl…that'd be pretty cool.
Does anyone know when they're going to start putting that technology into Chrysler cars?
THe Pentastar V6 block is exactly identical to the Mercedes M272.
Logically: What does that tell you?
I would never buy a drivetrain that was Chrysler built.
Ram Air…Is that like Nike Air?
It is just another useless gimmick.
Doesn't look bad at all. But, knowing most Chrysler stuff, it'll sound like a bucket of bolts after three years.

…yea; just like Ferrari, Mercedes, Jeep Wrangler & Grand Cherokee.
HAVE YOU EVER EVEN DRIVEN A CHRYSLER– let alone owned ANY???
Ya – there are a bunch of crappy Chryslers in the market – but to be fair, there are some decent ones.
The 300 is a great car. Caravan – lots of life in them. The Ram is easily the best looking and best pickup on the market. And, while a bit of a yawn -the Patriot is proving to be durable as well.
Sure – does everyone know people who've had issues w/ Chryslers? Yes – however for everyone one of those – I know someone who's had zero issues with theirs.
To the poster at October 12, 2010 4:35 PM.
Are you on drugs or legally blind? You really think this WARMED OVER SEBRING is a beauty?
1. The Pentastar in this vehicle will not make the full 290HP, it will likely be detuned to 280HP which gives it EXACTLY SIX more horsepower than the Optima.
The Optima will have MORE torque available from a lower RPM and throughout the rev range and be lighter, therefore it will be faster. We won't talk about handling, Chrysler doesn't currently product ANYTHING that handles worth a damn.
2. There is nothing beautiful about this ugly, ripped off design. The back end is a shameless carbon copy of the Jaguar XF, and their new "logo" is a blatant rip of the Aston Martin badge.
3. Four speed auto in 2010? Ummm, yeah I don't really have to say anything there, its already been said.
4. Sophisticated suspension on the Sebring? I am pretty sure it uses a tortion beam rear end. GTFO out of here, seriously. Chrysler doesn't even know what vehicle dynamics are.
5. You don't have to have a dead on side view of the vehicle, it is obvious that it retains the Sebrings C pillar which is disgusting.
Stop being such a blind fanboy. Chrysler is a junk company that has been through bankruptcy, or close to it, multiple times.
Strong companies don't go bankrupt, enough said.
Sorry Vince, end of rant!
Apple nearly went bankrupt…they seem to be doing ok now adays.
Kia nearly went belly up – they're doing pretty well for themselves.
Ford by most measures should have gone bankrupt – they're a posterboy for Automotive right now.
Nissan was on the brink – they're doing ok (despite crappy cars).
Point is that with proper leadership – any company can survive.
Why would anyone want more than 4 speeds? The 6 speed trannys are retarded and psychotic in that they are CONSTANTLY shifting. It is like being around an obnoxious teenager Who actually designed this horid thing).
Chrysler doesn't currently product ANYTHING that handles worth a damn.
So why are they the most preferred pursuit vehicle by most law enforcement departments? (Camrys, Accords & Maximas are cheaper than a Hemi Charger–but nobody wants them) And now that Masarrati & Ferrari are part of the same company… Daaaaa!
back end is a shameless carbon copy of the Jaguar XF…
(which is ALSO an absolutely GORGEOUS machine~!)

Henry Ford went bankrupt
Sears went bankrupt
Macy's went bankrupt
Thomas Edison went bankrupt
Mercedes only avoided it by letting Germany's biggest bank take everything over.
Toyota & Honda only avoided it by taking huge handouts from the Japanese government's MITI board.
Albert Einstein flunked out of college.
Only a spineless idiot pretends to be perfect.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger
So don't be to quick to underestimate the inventer of turbine cars, electronic ignition, quadra-trac, stow-n-go, swivel-N-go (which first appeared on 1959 Imperials) hemisphereical head designs… and the first one to make ABS standard (Imperials from 69-75). And they always worked — unlike the unpredictable brakes on the latest from Toyota/Lexus.
And the inventer/designer/engineer & builder of the M1 Tank (fastest tank in the world when it came out–60MPH+)
And they also built Rockets for NASA.
The 200 4-speed may not be a Dodge 6-speed, but its a lot more reliable (and safer) than the unexpectdly accelerating transmissions from Toyota.
And at the end of the day…
The 200 is sweet!
Only weak people think Chrysler/Fiat makes competitive products. This is like putting lipstick on a pig and calling it Paris Hilton.
Why would anyone want more than 4 speeds? The 6 speed trannys are retarded and psychotic in that they are CONSTANTLY shifting
ya….why would anyone want improved fuel economy, better acceleration and a smoother ride? Who needs that crappy stuff???
"Only weak people think Chrysler/Fiat makes competitive products."
Now if that isn't the epitomy of an "ignorant redneck" comment.
–or at least the rice-burner fanboy equivalent of an "ignorant redneck"
So you can't see past the Brand Name, we get it. I guess that's why some companies spend millions on "touchy-feely" ads that never do a direct comparison to Hyundai, GM, Chrysler, Ford, BMW, or anyone else with statistical superiority. (not to mention aesthetic & ergonamic superiority)
–If you can't stun them with your brilliance (like the 300 & 200 do) then I guess you baffel them with the same old cliche "quality" marketing Bu11$h1T.
It's your money.
"Now if that isn't the epitomy of an "ignorant redneck" comment."
Seems to me only ignorant rednecks,,,And rental companies,,,buy dodge and chrysler.
I like the Chrysler TV commercials where they have a sniveling brat male voice narrating. That tells you who their customers really are.
