“Terrain Management System” for the next Ford Explorer

Last Updated:

That is all they’ll show us for now.

Making sure we know the next Explorer still can go anywhere, even though it’s not a truck anymore.
Being based on the Flex platform, I’m sure most of the will be FWD anyway.
So basically, it will be a 5 passenger version of the Flex, with a more “SUV” look to it.
So, what about the Edge?
The Explorer and the Edge will now be direct competitor. Both being based on car platforms.
I guess marketing will make us think they’re so different…

  1. Vince – remember that you're in Southern California where most people never really _need_ 4×4. Here in New England, I doubt most dealers ever get FWD models.

  2. Looks like Land Rover tech has once again been ripped off. BMW bought rover for the self leveling deal in the 90S that it now features in the X series. Ford is now pimping out Rover tech for the hopeless explorer. Pretty soon, Rover will be known for its fit finish, and quality, and Toyota is the whipping boy– what kind of bizarro world is this?

  3. Mud, Rut Mode?

    LMFAO!!!!

Please call it something different before it comes out! PLEASE.

Or we'll just have to make fun of you on TV…more than we already do.

    You are kidding, right?

Ford owned Land Rover when LR came out with the Terrain Response system which was also designed side by side with Ford.

    People know nothing.
