2012 Chevrolet Cruze Coupe

The Cruze might eventually offer almost every single body style possible. Including a hatchback and/or a wagon .
A sporty Turbo SS version is also in the works.
Although from the wheels on this prototype, this is not it.
The coupe will compete with the Civic and Forte coupes. And will be mainly for the US market.
While the hatchback will be targeted for Europe.
The problem is, again, timing.
It is taking GM forever to just come up with the regular sedan version of the car in the US.
Other versions need to come out almost right after.
The new stunning looking Focus is just around the corner, so is a new Civic.
Although I can really imagine a 220/240hp Turbo Cruze coupe could be a very attractive car for many people.
And something other small coups do not offer.
Yet…
there is something about the overall shape, and the way the cladding is arranged on the body, that says 'coupe cabriolet' to me. I wonder if the General has another flip-top coming out? it was the most interesting G6. I don't think i've ever seen one driving around though.
I have heard that the "new" Cruze barely competes with the current generation Civic with debuted in late 2005.
That is pretty pathetic if you ask me.

I don't think it is taking them forever. The real problem is that the buying public is seeing these cars YEARS in advance of their release. We all saw the Cruze two years ago? Longer?
On the other hand, we all finally saw the Ford Focus in January and that car will be on the market early next year.
Though I guess an argument could be made that the Ford Fiesta has been seen by everyone for a couple of years as well..
BTW, as much as I like the Cruze's design, it looks old and dated next to a 2012 Ford Focus.

Sorry Rick, it IS taking forever. While you're correct that we've been seeing this car years before it's release, the real problem is that it was released in Europe in early 2009 – according to Wikipedia, "Exports from the South Korean factory began on February 24, 2009". Even Mexico got it last year, and we're getting it when?
Was the US market some kind of afterthought that we're the last to get it?
They just don't deserve to succeed with this one.

It is a very dated design already. Knowing GM, this isn't going to be a quality vehicle.
