2010 Nissan Altima

Last Updated:

I think the Altima is a pretty good looking car, and didn’t really need these “adjustments” to its design.
In my recent test drive of the coupe, I noticed a couple of cheap interior bits around the console, and from what I saw on other pics, they are still there.
The only change to the interior seems to be the new stereo unit.
I also hope they offer some kind of new light color interior. The old being/brown combo most japanese manufacturers still use just doesn’t cut it anymore.

The weirdest thing seems to be the pricing .
On the Coupe, you can get a 6 speed manual with the 2.5 Liter engine for $22 500.
But the V6 with a stick now starts at $29 600!!! That’s about $2500 than the 2009 model I drove!
And about $2300 more than the CVT model for 2010.
Looks like Nissan really does NOT want people to get the 6 speed manual. Why even offer it then???

It’s a shame really, that transmission is one of the best I’ve driven lately.

Here is the official PR BS, as well as all the prices:

-Altima Sedan 2.5 S 2.5L CVT $19,900 USD
-Altima Sedan 2.5 S 2.5L CVT $21,840 USD
-Altima Sedan 3.5 SR 3.5L V6 CVT $24,520 USD

-Altima Coupe 2.5 S 2.5L 6MT $22,440 USD
-Altima Coupe 2.5 S 2.5L CVT $22,940 USD
-Altima Coupe 3.5 SR 3.5L V6 CVT $27,270 USD
-Altima Coupe 3.5 SR 3.5 V6 6MT $29,600 USD

2010 Altima Hybrid $26 780

……….

“Among the many changes for all 2010 Altimas are a restyled hood, grille and front bumper, new wheel designs, standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) on all models, revised interior fabric and finishers, new exterior colors and revised option package content. In addition, the previous Altima 3.5 SE designation has been renamed the 3.5 SR.

Along with the exhilaration provided by the driver-oriented cockpit and high levels of Altima performance, the “entertainment factor” of Altima’s interior has been upgraded with new available premium audio packages that include a Bose® AM/FM audio system with nine speakers, 4.3-inch color display, USB port with iPod® connectivity, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, MP3/WMA CD-ROM playback, XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately) and RearView Monitor.”

  1. "But the V6 with a stick now starts at $29 600!!! That's about $2500 than the 2009 model I drove!" I think it's their way of saying you might as well go for the 370Z instead….while appeasing those who would have complained about Nissan not offering the option. I guess if you want a V6 Altima 6-spd THAT bad….

  2. Outrageous pricing here. The V6 manual COUPE starts at 29K?!?! Who in the hell in their right mind would buy this OVER a used G35/G37 or even a 370Z if they don't need the back seats???

Who in their right mind would buy this over the V6 Accord Coupe which is by and FAR a better vehicle. Check out the Inside Line video with the Altima and Accord Coupes, they loved the Accord, not so much for the Altima though.

The Altima, still ahead of the Galant, is the worst vehicle in its class. Check out the interior pictures of Vince's test coupe. That flashing on the center console near the shifter is unacceptable.

It has had the same boring, melted bar of soap shape since 2002 and it wasn't even appealing back then. This is a tired, old design.

  3. Yeah, the only reason not get the 370Z at that point is if somebody really prefers FWD (they're out there).

  4. In my opinion there really isn't any major driver to buy a Nissan.

They are not very reliable (check CR and JD Power), poor dealer service, the quality isn't there, and the resale value is abysmal for a Japanese vehicle. They are almost as bad as Hyundai as far as resale goes.

  5. That pricing is ridiculous.

I'd rather have an Accord or the upcoming Sonata any day of the week over this outdated and boring Nissan.

  6. Is there a reason that the guys that drive Altimas are complete asshats? Along with drivers of early 90s Maximas, they are the worst, most aggressive drivers I've ever seen on the freeway. What is it about the owners of these cars? Does the car create the jerk, or are jerks attracted to these cars? I've seen two of them wrapped around trees in the past couple years. And it's no wonder.

Anyway, for a painfully vanilla entry level midsized car, the design of the sedan is better than a Camry, Accord or Sonata. The coupe is for hairdressers.

    THAT IS SO DAMN WEIRD!!!!

I completely agree!!!! I always see guys in newer Altimas weaving in and out of traffic. Two weeks ago with my wife and kid someone passed us in a late model Altima on a long sweeping offramp at about 80MPH and bounced off of the concrete K barrier and kept on driving!!!!

I always see spiky haired, Jersey type guys driving Altimas.

  8. I think Consumer Reports was paid by Nissan to rate their sedan so highly.

I get them as rentals all the time, presumably because they can't sell Altimas to actual customers, and I have HATED every one I have ever had. That CVT is the biggest annoyance ever, and the interiors quality is below that of subcompacts.

Don't forget about the highly problematic VQ25 and the VQ35 engines. The V6 is notorious for their oil consumption. The four cylinder is notorious for piston sleeve failures and the cat degrading and being sucked back INTO the cylinders.

Let's not forget about those expensive and common CVT failures.

  10. Has anyone noticed that the Altima has had the same hood forever? It is so boooooring.

The whole car looks like a giant suppository!!
