Burlapp driving an Opel.

Last Updated:

I am going to europe in a couple of weeks.
And I might just be getting an Opel to test drive while I am there.

I thought a good idea would be to test of of their diesel engines. Diesel seems to be making a come back in the US with manufacturers like Nissan, Honda, Mercedes and BMW offering that option soon.
GM sells tons of diesels in europe through Opel.

I am also interested in the new Corsa. What else should I consider?
I don’t think the Insignia will be available yet. Too bad…

  1. Burlapp, you are one of the luckiest people
to travel and post photos on this site.
Where you give a large amount of $ from someone?
Last year you also went to Europe.

  2. I think you should try the new SUV they have which is sold in the US as a saturn. the “Antara” is sold in Europe with a diesel engine 2.0 liter 150 HP..

  3. Hmm…(the next Fiesta), the Kuga, the S-Max, any Renault/Peugeot/Citroën, Fiat 500, Fiat Bravo, (Lancia Delta) , Opel Meriva, Opel Zafira, Citroën Berlingo, Renault Koléos, Mercedes B-Class, (Ford KA), VW Polo, VW Touran, VW Scirocco, that’s all I got for now.

    (not on sale yet)

Where in Europe are you going? How long are you staying (here)? And so, you’d be renting the opel or it’d be a test-drive thing or what?

  4. Are you going to Germany? I want to go to the U.S. Hey Vince, maybe we can do a swap. I go to the States and you come to the UK. What do you say lol. I wanted the Nissan Rogue, Altima and Sentra…

  5. Why test Opels??? Try out the Euro Fords instead, those are far more interesting and the US will be getting most of them in a couple of years. Opels are boring

  6. I have a GM contact in europe and it looks like I will be getting a Saab Convertible with a diesel.
    I will report on it.
Interesting, I am supposed to get a US version of the same model (no diesel) when I get back so I can compare both.

  7. Try the new Opel Meriva. it’s supposed to be small and frugal but roomy and practical. Just the kind of thing that you will rarely be able to drive in the US!

  8. When you’r in europe, try testing a KIA cee’d (yes, it is spelled that way). This car is offered with an amazing 7-year warranty.

  9. Massive favour Vince – pls would you drive any BMW.

I’ve heard that the European models have much harder suspension than the US ones… they actually re-jig them.

Would be great if you could confirm.
