More new Falcon interior pics
Last Updated:
Someone mentioned here that the “new” Falcon is based on the old platform. And therefore cannot be switched to left hand drive for export.
Another big mistake from Ford.
This could have been a great Taurus in the US.
But instead, they are promessing us a “new” Taurus next year. Great.
We’ll see what we get. A real new car or yet another facelift version of the Five Hundred.
Good luck to Ford turning a profit in the US anytime soon….
Maybe we will get the Mondeo…Doubt it though.
When I was living in Europe, we called it the mundain-o…It is not mundain anymore.
Incorrect.
This falcon is 80% new. The VE and camry also have carry over components in Australia.
I know of very few mainstream vehicles which are 100% new, do you?
The new falcon also has been engineered for LHD if required, they simply dont have a LHD export market currently to suit.
Just found out the FG falcon is 90% new.

Taking all the experience you must have as an auto exec, have you determined how much this car would cost to export or build here and what the MSRP would need to be to turn a profit already, Vince? We’re all ears.
From what I understand from a couple of publications that I read, the “new” Taurus that will come out next year WON’T be all new, but it will be a significant refresh. According to Mullaly, he said it’s what they should have built in the first place. Then, from what I understand, about 2 years after the refresh, there will be an “all new” Taurus.
The more I see of this car, the more I like it. It’s not as “boyracerish” as the G8. It looks a little more sophisticated. I like the idea of a 4 valve per cylinder V8 also. Although I doubt it will have variable valve timing and/or cylinder deactivation. This is real nice though.

So now Vince and the rest of us have to be auto executives to have opinions about cars.
Sheesh. There’s always that one who spoils all the fun.
“The falcon has not been engineered for left hand drive. the plan was abondoned back in september 2007 when allocated funds were instead transfered for local devlopment of the ford focus.”
But the car would have almost been completed in September 07. i’m pretty sure it CAN be built in LHD, it’s just they wont.
I repeat…
The NEW falcon HAS been designed with LHD, ok!!
OBVIOUSLY the car can do LHD! Only a moron would design otherwise.
Does someone mean to tell me that all this time I was’nt associating with big time automotive executives!? Uhhem…what is this world coming to. I’m gonna call my big shot lawyer.
“At the end of the day the investment required to do that [Middle East export] for the volume that was available to us … we made the better business choice, which is we can do a lot more volume in Australia, both strengthen our domestic business and strengthen our export business in one fell swoop and that’s what we did with Focus.”
Gorman also confirmed ‘Orion’ development hasn’t allowed room for potential future left-hand-drive conversion
the words from ford australa boss. WONT be made in LHD
stop the fanboyism and read the facts!
What’s with the US 2008 Focus Inspired tail-lights (with a little Expedition headlight shape to them as well?) ?
cubedtothex the Falcon has had similar shaped lights since 6 years ago, it’s not US Focus inspired, perhaps the other way around
Right, lets clear this LHD crap up…
orion has been made LHD safe, meaning it has been designed to accept LHD IF Ford does spend the extra development money in actually making a REAL LHD prototype.
So in effect when they developed orion it was made with LHD in mind, the difference being Ford never spent the extra money and make a LHD prototype.
Do we now understand??? So if Ford decides to do a LHD orion it can be done as opposed to every other falcon before orion that couldn’t be converted LHD easily, they would have required a complete re-engineering.
OK???

It is a carry over in the sense that it uses the same chasis as 1998 AU – ford attempts to save money. The VE on the other hand used the new global GM RWD architecture.
