Toyota A-Bat Concept
Last Updated:
At first it looks like a Toyota Ridgeline. But I don’t think the Ridgeline is such a huge hit for Honda in the 1st place.
So I’m not sure this will make it into production at all.
And if it does, it could be toned down so much it would look this cool.
But I have to say, I really like this concept. Finally a pick up truck that looks like it was designed in the 21st Century…
As you eluded to, there are a lot of similarities between this and the Ridgeline.
However this is VASTLY better looking than the “face even a mother can hate” Ridgeline.
Honda called. They don’t want their Ridgeline back.
Could be the 2008 equvalent to the old Chevy El Camino for Job Site Managers.
It reminds me of an Isuzu Vehicross if it were a pickup truck.
Mr Burlapp-
is it true that this originally was to have been a Scion concept? cuz i really see a lot of similarity to the Scion t2b concept.
Ridgeline has not been a sucess for honda, but, neither has the tundra for toyota. I don’t think this will make it to prime time.
!@#%&ing Ridgeline. Pity that came out first, thing is, I know people who love it cuz it’s a Honda…although it took the…er… pageant crown away from the Aztek.
This face I’m not so sure will catch on. It will certainly be ‘clinicked’ down to something more mediocre and Tundraesque. Cars today look so angry. Especially vehicles where mostly men participate in the consumer clinics.
But if it gets 40+ mpg with AWD, watch out Prius. My #1 reason why I bought my car was the price/volume/ability/mpg factor.
c’mon vince, page is turning into “Honda Haterz Unite”…
blatant ridgeline infringement, oh wait, flattery maybe.
Ridgeline not a hit for a Honda… The first year of sales was over 50K and it was projected for 50K. That’s a hit. Speak facts not uneducated opinions.
Nice call on the VehiCROSS comments….
Trucks are trucks they don’t need 21st century look. They need to haul stuff. I fail to understand why everyone thinks they are so great.
It is a new hybrid concept. Businessweek online has an article up now on it

Maybe you should try and read something besides honda’s PR handbook. If you think honda wanted to sell only 50K of a truck, then you clearly have no clue how big the pick up market is. Titan goal over 100K, tundra over 200K, etc etc They set the target low so they could easily meet it, but, honda employees tell me they wanted 75-100K. You are the clueless one.
I fail to understand why everyone thinks they are so great.
They’ve been told to think so.
With all of the embarrassing quality problems Toyota has been having with their Tundra, this might be more their speed. It’s like a Camry El Camino. They should stick to stuff like this because their full-size trucks just can’t tow the heavy load. At least Honda knew its limitations.
their full-size trucks just can’t tow the heavy load.
Last time I checked, over 5 tons was considered a heavy load. The Tundra can tow anywhere from 5100 to 10,800 lbs. That’s enough to meet the needs of the vast majority of truck buyers who don’t care about pissing contests.
Need more? Get an F150 dually. Toyota isn’t interested in that small market segment.
Not so much a Ridgeline as a Dodge.Check it out:https://www.edmunds.com/appraisal/
