This car is stunning in silver. Not so much in burgundy. I am tempted to wait for the CTS-V, but might test drive the 3.6 liter version to see how that feels.

wow. a difference a color change makes. the lightness and metallic finish of the paint really bring out the creases adn sculpting. still, i’m disappointed with teh whole car because that teaser photo held so much promise!

The CTS has always been a great style IMO and has been updated for the better. It looks like nothing else and gives Cadillac a more youthful image.
The real issue with this car is reliability–a friend has an ’04 SRX which is on the same chassis and that vehicle drives well, but has been troublesome in too many respects–not nearly as free from problems as a typical Honda or Toyota.

It really looks the same as the previous one. This update is not even evolutionary. However, the improvements are tasteful. Can they not come up with more youthful taillights? What is the median age of drivers seeking this car? It cannot be less than 55-60…

In a styling reversal, Cadillac has done well with this new CTS over the last-generation car. I wish Cadillac well with this one.
I actually prefer the previous generation for its exterior design. version 2.0 of cadillac’s art and science style direction has gone too soft. the hard machine-quality lines of the first cts were visually striking and interesting. this is a blob. buick, anyone?

No automaker should be crafting a luxury car marketing strategy on what a 25 year old says they want. I’m 36, closer to the target age of this class of car, and one of the reasons I did not consider the first gen IS a few years ago was because it came across as juvenile to me. In a year or so, I expect that I’ll be test-driving the A4 or S4, a 3-series and this CTS or CTS-V. While I recognize that the G35 is an awesome car, I’m lukewarm. I still don’t think I could live with the vanilla Toyota styling or the mediocrity of the IS.
To anyone who doesn’t like this, all of you are completely nuts. I’m 18 years old and i would drive this car over the G35 and the BMW 3 series. The G35 headlights are comepletely hideous, the rear end of the 3 series is ugly as well, and the interior of the IS is just well, ugly. This is the most well put togther design i’ve seen yet for a car in its class. I would choose this car to go a buck 30 in rather than any other car in its class. This car is classy and sporty at the same time. A perfect combination. How many others can do that? Definately not the G35 or the 3 series.

Because he’s under the dilusion that 25 year olds make up a substantial chunk the $40k car segment, I imagine he thinks that it should have “Altezza” style ricer tail lamps. Even though every other brand of luxury sedans abandoned that style three years ago.
