New pictures of the “not so new ” new Expedition.
Seems like they’ll keep changing the interior and the front end as long as they can.
Just like with any other Ford SUVs, and even the Focus…
It’ll just look better along with all the other oversized SUVs lined up gathering dust on dealers’ lots.
Ford has nothing most people want to buy these days except the Mustang for a few enthusiasts and the Fusion/Milan/Zephyr which is a better car when in its original Mazda 6 form.
Ford is a mess.
This thing supposes to cost three times more than S-Max. Yet, its 10 times more ugly and the interior can’t even match that on the new focus. Every time Ford has something that sell great, Ford will pull the plug on its research fund and let it die in slow and painful death.
The new Expedition… Bigger and uglier! And most models still have the ultra-tacky two-tone paint–with monotone paint unavailable except on the most expensive model.
The front end is particularly hideous. The curve along the lower edge of the headlamps makes it look like it’s about to cry!
The facelifts are slowly killing Ford, for me… they get droopier and sadder with each and every incarnation. The interior is notably nicer looking than the older model though.
this actually the first redesighn on this car, this it was redesighned with this body style……so not a whole lot of front and rear changes not sure where that came from….but i agree on other fords especially the focus
It is not.
The current model shares most of its body (doors, windshield, roof etc…) with the previous one.
They reworked the frame and changed the suspension, but most of the body was the same.
this car is pimpin
not so vince, but not one of these over car guys that send argue messages back and forth but the transition to this model wasnt a front and rear face lift, it was an all new car (sharing very little with the old car), so you would be wrong on the expedition thing, do some more research on that one….but good site otherwise
I love the new expedition and Navigator.
SUVs and Trucks, yadda yadda…
Im not a Ford person, but i think this looks good, i think it will be quite competitive with the rest of the segment
Why would anyone need this vehicle?
Maybe the question is how many people who own an Expedition really need one?
This thing represents gluttony and greed. No number of facelifts can hide that.
UGH! Ford made the same mistake with the Expedition as they did with the Explorer. Who cares if everything is new/reworked beneath the skin. Now is the time to rework the exterior to get more attention. FOOLS!
The interior is much better, but the exterior is bulky, tacky, and has way to much body cladding. barf!
I spose people wouldn’t be nearly as critical if the images were of the Toyota Land Cruiser, which has been around virtually unchanged for nearly two decades.
I have no problem with Ford updating their vehicles to include top-notch interiors and fresh exterior. This truck received a major update only a couple years ago. It’s not time yet for a completely new one. Ongoing improvements are a good thing.
What a big piece of S#it.
I hope Ford go out of bussiness. They ripped me off thru the years. I got a few Ford cars in my life spam (Three Taurus, one Mercury sable, one Mercury Montaineer and a Mustang) and they turn out to be garbage. Unreliable product. Have you check out the new Mustang yet? I went to see at a local dealership and when I opened the door, the fricking glass door was all loose. It is a piece of junk. Ford, GMC, American Brand names, fricking built im Mexico and lots of parts from China. Want to buy a good car? get a Toyota or Honda, built in AMerica, providing jobs to Americans. I hope Ford and GMC go out of bussines. Even their safety sucks. No pride on those vehicles when there were built. Sence a little anger here? you bet, after spending thousends on those Mickey Mouse cars they built.
im confused not a ford person at all and think the things use way to much gas, but i have a question, if you have so many problems with a car how idiotic to continue to buy the same car over and over and over again. they either cant be that bad, or the buyer is totally stupid……anyone agree?????
OK, I think we all need to calm down on this one. First, I would like to clarify a few things about the new 2007 Ford Expedition and Expedition EL.
Number 1: Contrary to what was orignally stated earlier. The 2007 Ford Expedition does ride on a redesigned and re-engineered platform. Ford moved the Expedition from its current platform which debuted with the first redesign back in early 2000 and it will now ride on a stronger, stiffer, far more rigid platform derived from the F-150. In fact, here are the direct words from the Ford Motor Company itself,
“The 2007 Expedition is even stronger and tougher than its predecessor, beginning with an all-new chassis. Engineered to F-Series tough truck durability standards, Expedition’s chassis uses revised front geometry and increased box section thickness to provide a 10 percent improvement in torsional rigidity and bending stiffness over the previous model’s stout frame. This provides a solid foundation to deliver superior driving dynamics.
The new Expedition’s chassis features an all-new front suspension, front frame section and modular front-end construction for ease of assembly and improved quality. The tube-through-tube frame construction increases frame stiffness to provide a solid foundation for improved driving dynamics. Ford’s patented porthole-through-frame design allows the drive shafts to feed through the frame rails, lowering the center of gravity for better ride and handling and maximizing passenger space in the third-row seat.”
Number 2: As we should all undedrstand, styling is in the eye of the beholder. Undoubtedly, Ford knows that there are some out there who will find its new Expedition unapealing. That is why there are many different manufacturers and many different types and styles of vehicle on the market. Now, on the styling of the Expedition, I will again quote the Ford Motor Company so that you can read their explination of the new design.
“Expedition’s new design makes a promise of powerful capability. Inspired by Ford F-Series – America’s best-selling truck for 29 straight years – Expedition melds that ruggedness with expressive lines, delivering a vehicle that exudes confidence, from the prominent three-bar grille to the large blue oval mounted on the lift gate.”The crisply defined surfaces and chiseled good looks exemplify the feeling of athleticism,” says Chelsia Lau, Expedition chief designer. “Expedition’s unique design proudly displays its Ford SUV heritage while creating its own unique personality and character.” Expedition’s prominent grille serves as the focal point for the raised powerdome hood. New dual-beam headlamps feature the Ford-themed step-up design with the integrated side-marker lights wrapping around into the front fenders. Smooth sides and large wheel lips further define Expedition’s confident stance and frame its large wheels and tires. Expedition owners can choose from five wheel designs, including available 20-inch chrome-clad, six-spoke wheels wearing P275/55-R20 all-season tires.”
Whatever opinion you have about the new styling of the 2007 Ford Expedition is entirely that, yours! You will probably be surprised to know that there are many families, and individuals that own either the Ford Expedition or the Lincoln Navigator and love them. They drive them because they have a large family and need a vehicle that can move all the kids, carry enough groceries, and above all else, it doesn’t look like a mini-van. Next, the comments being made about the “Two-Tone” look that every Expedition has is pure BUNK! Ford has always offered the “Eddie Bauer” Edition of both the Explorer and Expedition which features a prominent Tan lower body to compliment the color the buyer specifies. Lower and higher trim levels do not offer the tan “two-tone” and are either accented like most all SUVs with either plastic rock cladding to “enhance the rugged and durable off-road look” or are in complete mono-tone paint like on the Limited Trim. If you want to crtique the “Two-Tone” paint, you must also point the finger at Toyota! Yes, the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX suvs have also come with the dreaded “Two-Tone” paint. Or you can criticize General Motors for the copious amounts of plastic on the last generation Avalanche. Styling is styling and every maker wants to create a unique and individual image for each of their offerings. As I said above, that is why you have so many choices when buying a vehicle.
Also, MKK, I will assume in your comment that you are refering to the European-spec Ford Focus and Ford S-Max correct? If that is true, than you really can’t compare what is basically a US only model to what are UK and Europe Models. If that is the case, than the 2007 Ford Expedition interior is far better than that of the US Ford Focus and is right on par with some of Fords best interiors like the ones found in the Fusion/Milan/Zephyr, Explorer, F-150, and Mustang.
Finally, I want to address the comments about vehicle quality from Ford Motor Company and the mis-belief that Toyota’s are perfect. Ford has made incredible strides to redevelop itself and produce vehicles that can last, preform, and if necessary save your life. They have come so far from the days of the late 1970s and ever since, technology and public demand has driven vehicles that are safer, faster, more environmentally concious, and above all better than every prvious generation. That can be said of all the Domestic Manufacturers. We all remember the infamous Firestone Recalls of the late 90s. No one seems to want let Ford live that done and instead rubs it in Fords face every chance they can. Hoever, testing clearly showed that the problem was the tire, manufactured by Firestone Tires, a subsidiary of the Japanese Company Bridgestone. Hoever, Fords levels of quality and concern for safety have greatly increased since that ill-fated recall. Toyota however, has been given this stamp of pure perfection where they never fail, never falter, and are perfect in every way…the same thing was about the Titanic and it failed on the first run. Cars are built and designed by Human Beings. We are falable, we make mistakes, we screw up! Therefore, there is no way that Toyota’s are perfect! Case in point, over the past few years, a squeeking wheel has been getting louder and louder in the halls of Toyota Headquarters. Toyotas recall numbers have drastically increased over the past few years. The new 2006 Toyota Avalon has already had 7 recal notices sent out to their owners. On top of how ever many service bullitens released to dealers. Toyota today just announced a recall of over 4,000 FJ Cruisers to repair a tire problem which is being stated as a “Toyota Problem”. Toyota has even recalled the ultimate in “Perfection”, the 2007 Toyota Camry for Air Bag defects and Toyota executives in Japan are under criminal investigation over a delayed recall on the early 1990 through early 2000s Toyota 4Runner and its Japanese counterpart which lead to the death of man in Japan.
What I am trying to say is that no one manufacturer is perfect. Don’t hold up one company like Toyota as though it is the only one that knows how to make cars with no flaws or quality issues. It is just as imperfect as the rest of them, even the “Dreaded” Ford Motor Company. I’m sorry if that staement keeps you awake tonight. All I ask is that people simply think their arguments out before they post their comments on boards like these.
Well, I am sure that someone will blast this post as soon as it is up. Oh Well. Enjoy!
I have had four Fords since 1991, up to and including the new Mustang (whose “glass doors” are NOT loose), and have never had any problems with any of them. If YOU really had problems(probably more like your PARENTS had the problems!) then I am sorry, but that does not make every single Ford a piece of crap!
Toyotas AND Hondas are not perfect either and have their fair share of problems!

In response to the illiterate poster who wrote the comments above… You’re a fool if you have owned not one, not two, but six Ford products that have proven to be lemons in your life “spam.” And you go shopping for a seventh that also happens to be a dud!?! Riiiiight! Either you’re a complete idiot (judging from your writing skills, is likely,) you’re a liar, or both. I suppose you would suggest we all drive a “reliable” Toyota? We all know how great those have proven to be lately.
——————->
OK guys, let me put it this way, how many used Toyota Tacomas do you see on used car dealerships? not many, why? because they sell like hot cakes! and they run forever.
I road tested a 2001 Toyota Tundra with 180K miles last year and it did ride better that a fricking 2005 Ford F-150. Toyotas run forever, especially their cars. By the way, I do preffer Hondas since Toyotas are too expensive and they charge you extra for everything, especially curtain airbags.
Check out the realibility on Hondas and Toyotas compare to Fords at places like http://www.edmunds.com http://www.vehix.com or http://www.msn.com/cars they will offer you the real deal. Honda and Toyota will always come up front on everything.
A used car salesman told me once “place a beat up and rusty Toyota or Honda car for sale and people will buy them in a heart beat, because their engines will run forever” “we cannot keep enough Toyota trucks in the lot”
The reason I did keep buying fricking Fords was, it was the only type of cars I could afford at the time.
In 2003 I bought a new Honda Accord V6 (front, side and curtain air bags standard) one of the best cars I ever had.
I bougth a 2004 CRV AWD (best pick on head on and side collision test by the National Highway for Safety Institute) In 2005 bougth another CRV AWD. In 2006 I got a 2006 Acura RL (no more rinky dinky Fords) The old 2003 Honda Accord nowdays have 280K miles and it rides excellet. I like Hondas instead of Toyotas (nicer, cheaper, reliable and safer) I am an American and another reason I did keep buying American Brand name cars was, I love my Country and felt the need to support my fellow American auto workers. Not anymore, Toyota and Honda cars are built in the good old USA.
My opinion is that it will take years for Ford and GMC companies to earn the confidence back from lots of Americans like myself. Want to buy a great, safe and reliable full size car? get a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry.
Want to buy a great, safe and reliable full size truck? get a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma (mid size)or Nissan Titan
Want to buy a great, safe and reliable SUV? Get a Honda Pilot or Toyota 4Runner.
Want to buy a great, safe and reliable small SUV? get a Honda CRV (complete redisign in 2007)or Rav4.
Want to get an expensive but great, safe and reliable cars? get an Acura or Lexus cars or SUVs. They are great cars and they will keep their value.
If you are like me, a person that looks for safety and realibility, since my wife and my three year old ride in it, look no further and stick with Hondas or Toyotas.
But if you got plenty money or use the money from your company to buy cars every two years, stick with Fords of GMCs.
Fords and GMC cars run OK for the first 36K miles.
Did I mentioned about the warranty service on Ford or GMC cars? their dealerships suck. They want you to think that whatever the problem is at the time, it is not cover by the warranty.
Guys, there is a reason I took almost 1/2 hour to write this article, I am really frustrated with with all the money I spend thru the years on Fords and GMC cars. I hope my nightmare will help someone else. You can be an educated comsumer, before buying any car, used or new, find out about realiblity or what is the price on the vehicle. Car Salesmen hate an educated comsumer.
My intention on writing this article was not to offend anyone. I got screw many times.
Thanks and let me know how much I really suck for writing this article.
Love you all.
Ford isn’t much of a car company these days because its emphasis, at least in the U.S., is on trucks and SUVs.
These truck/SUV monsters are gathering dust in dealers’ lots and deserve to be ignored by anyone who wants a car now that the SUV fad is fading. The company can restyle this stupid iron forever and it’ll still be uneconomical, road-hogging crap.
Ford has only one hopefully high-volume sedan: the Fusion/Milan/Zephyr which is just a bastardized version of the Mazda 6.
The Mazda 6 is a decent car but not worth diddling with when it’s dressed up in Ford drag. Just buy the Mazda if you want one. Better yet, get an Accord or Camry because they’re better cars anyway.
The biggest news from Ford is that the Lincoln Zephyr will be renamed the MKZ or some other stupid combo of letters. Well, isn’t that just grand?
Ford is a mess.
IQuack, I second that, Ford is a mess. I say Ford is a piece of S#it.
They made their own bed.
What to compare the Ford Expedition (S#it product) with a real SUV? how about the Toyota Sequoi? that is a real truck for your money.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, just shoot yourself and keep buying Fords and GMC products.

In my company, I handle the Fleet.
Twelve GMC Savanas (2000-2004), six Ford E-Conoline (2000-2005), two Dodge Sprinters (2005), three Ford F-150 (1998-2000), two GMC Sierra 1500 pick up (1998-2002)two 2002 Toyota Tundras and one 2005 Nissan Titan.
Take a guess wich vehicles are reliable? Toyotas and the Nissan. Ford and GMC are a waste of money. I wish Toyota or Nissan will get into the Cargo Van bussiness.
Oh yeah, Ford is the best right?
Here are the facts,
Toyota dominates auto dealer survey.
Ford was the lowest ranked volume manufacturer with a rating of 63.7, making it the fifth-lowest ranked brand overall. Ford’s Lincoln-Mercury nameplate came in one rank higher at 63.8, according to the survey.
Here is the link from CNN/AUTOS
http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/07/31/asian_brands.reut/index.html
Good lord. There is a survey for everything. This one is not newsworthy except as pro-Toyota hyperbole. Obviously dealers aren’t happy with Ford today because of corporate neglect. It’s important that Ford get their act together very soon. But the reality is that not everyone wants a vanilla Toyota, and consumers know that if they buy a Ford truck that they can expect it to last at least twenty years. Most twenty year old Toyotas have rusted back into the earth, starting at the wheel wells. The biggest complaint I have with Fords are the interiors, which they are addressing with this update. Fords new truck interiors are regarded as the benchmark for others to follow.
For someone to use the anecdotes that “you don’t see any Sequoia’s on used car lots,” then I’ll have to agree. I don’t see many at all, new or old. Nissans are reliable based on your experience with the single one you own in a fleet of thirty vehicles… clearly this is a joke, right? I’ve never heard of Nissans being described as reliable. Nor has that been my experience. Nissan trucks are ugly and have proven to be amongst the least reliable vehicles available. But they build some of the most exciting cars.
Just say NO.
Hey guuys, I made a comment about how awful and unreliable Fords or GMC cars ot trucks are. I am not bashing you for buying one of those cars, I love my USA and everything about it but, I am just frustraded with s#itty cars they built.
Common guys, you are gonna tell me that USA, the best land on the planet, we invented so many great things, put a man on the moon, great inventions, etc, cannot built a reliable? How come I have to buy a Honda or Toyota in irder to get a great product?
Ford and GMC knew this, they figured, Americans buy cars every three years or so, why built reliable cars. I am serius, they made their own bed. I love my contry but my money wich I worked hard for it, goes to Hondas or Toyotas built in USA.
How come, when you get a Ford or GMC car or truck, everything sounds like is falling apart, loose, loose glass, oil leaking from the head gasket, etc only two or three years later, you get the picture right?
Let’s be realistic, I know that deep inside you want to believe that a Ford or GMC cars are better than imported ones, because you love my USA as much as I do. But reality is Ford or GMC don’t give a S#it about you or me.
Thanks guys.
Some interesting comments above on Ford vs Toyota, etc. in reliability.
I had one Ford–fortunately a company-owned car–in 1966. It was a Fairlane and the worst excuse for a new car I’d ever experienced.
Everything was wrong with that POS and I vowed I’d never buy another Ford. I kept my word!
You might say, “Gee, that was 40 years ago and it’s all different now.”
OK, that’s true. But 1966 wasn’t exactly in the Dark Ages and there were some damn good cars available from Chrysler and GM that year.
I think Ford has been a POS for decades and now that the truck business is on its ass, the company is finally sinking because its cars aren’t competitive.
I don’t understand a few posts from people who owned multiple Fords that were lousy. Wouldn’t most people reject Ford after owning a lemon?
I still laugh at the brilliant move to rename the Lincoln Zephyr the MKZ–just shows you how weak brains think.
Screw Ford.
Um, just let it go and get a hobby.
Hobby?
Hey, they said tha masturbation relieves some stress?
Will that count as a hobby?
Just checking!
Yes, masturbation does count as a hobby.
Woodworking is a hobby isn’t it?
And when you masturbate, you create your own woody don’t you?
So, it’s a hobby. Just using logic here.
