The new Alpine A290 is the Renault 5’s evil brother.
Renault is hard at work revitalizing the sporty Alpine brand with many future models. The first one is a sportier version of the cool new Renault 5 EV. The exterior has been modified but doesn’t look as clean as the concept they had shown last year. All they did is add a lot of black plastic crap all over the super modern design of the regular Renault 5 EV.
Inside the dashboard and center console have been revised. For that “sportier look” people seem to be craving when they spend more money. There is also a new steering wheel and I’m sure the seats are different as well.
The main event here will be more power over the Renault 5 150HP. Probably at least 218, which is what the larger Renault Megane E-Tech is using.
No matter how good this will be, it’s not coming here, even though the Alpine brand is. What we will be getting is of course sporty Alpine EV SUVs. And maybe an EV coupe or two. With a sporty Alpine sedan that hopes to compete against the Porsche Taycan at a lower price.
