Future Lincolns video.

Well… Not really, of course.

But these illustrations show what could happen if Ford allowed Lincoln to have a fuller range of vehicles.

Of course, there are no Lincoln sedans available in North America anymore. however, they have been offering the Zephyr in China for a few years. Here we only have SUVs. From the smaller Ford Escape-based Corsair to the giant Ford Expedidion-based Navigator.

Of course, they still have their own designs, but they are still fancier Ford models. That hasn’t changed much from the old days.

But we have no sedans and especially no coupes available here. Which is too bad. It seems many are missing the old Lincoln Sedans. And the Navigator hasn’t really replaced the old Town Car in most fleets, unlike the Cadillac Escalade, which has been very popular for Cadillac. It has in fact been the best-selling Cadillac model for the past few years.

The Town Car died back in 2011. And we haven’t seen a Continental model since 2020. After a 15-year hiatus. The last coupe was the Lincoln Mark VIII, a car that didn’t even make it into the 21st Century and disagreed from dealer lots in 1998.

Then we have the Versailles. The cheaply engineered Ford Granada-based sedan was supposed to compete with the 1st generation Cadillac Seville. Unlike the Seville, it was a failure and there was never a 2nd generation.

I guess a smaller Lincoln sedan these days is the Chinese market Zephyr. Which is probably a nice car, but nothing like what Lincoln used to do.

Please join me a watch this very short video showing us another reality. One where car buyers’ taste for large sedans didn’t shift to SUVs. Where a luxury car is still a car.

It would be quite interesting to see a shift back to large sedans in the US. With new EV platforms, there wouldn’t be gas guzzlers anymore.
