Acura Legend.

After the Integra, Acura just revived the name RSX for its new sportier EV SUV . Could a new legend me next?

The illustration above shows what a new Acura Legend EV could look like. The new RSX is based on the same platform as the upcoming Honda EVs 0 series. The “saloon” and the SUV.

So far Acura has not shown a future EV sedan based on the platform, but why not? Since Honda is getting one. And “Legend” would be the perfect name for a new large Acura sedan.

Last year a few patent designs for a new Acura sedan we found on the internet and ended up basically everywhere. Acura explained these were a few years old and were showing an internal concept car that was never released. This is probably not true since Acura’s concepts are always much more modern than this. The proportions of the car in the images clearly show a production model. They also show that Acura was still thinking of a future sedan.

The TLX is an excellent car but has not been a hit. Far from it. Sales are taking a nose dive with just 16700 sold sold in 2023 and probably even less last year. that compares to over 43,000 for the Lexus ES.

The prototype for the 0 Saloon EV sedan Honda showed at CES a few days ago is still pretty out there. And there is no way to know how much it will be changed for production. It seems way too futuristic to be ready for mass production. So far, the RSX we just saw is very different from the Concept we saw a few weeks ago. The proportions alone are completely changed and the design looks much more boring. At least on the one camouflaged photo of a prototype that is available.

With so few sales of the current TLX, it seems Acura has nothing to lose by producing a new Legend sedan based on the Honda 0 Series Saloon.

And at least, the Legend could stay what it is supposed to be: a sedan. Unlike the RSX…
