Chrysler New-Yorker.

Chrysler seems to be in limbo right now. Which is not the first time it happened. So why not imagine what a big new Chrysler New-Yorker sedan could look like.

The new Dodge Charger EV just came out and a 4 door version is also around the corner. For now, the only Charger trims available start at over $61,000. Quite pricey especially for a Dodge. A less expensive RWD one motor model will also be available. The current best lease deal for the AWD Charger R/T is inder $280 a month. Which is quite amazing. Just imagine what the cheaper model will be.

A 4 door Chrysler sedan based on the 4 door Charger doesn’t seem like it would cost a fortune to developp. With affordable leases like the Charger, it could also be successful.

Chrysler CEO has already mentioned that all their upcoming new models would be based on the Halcyon concept design language. But what if they were not. The illustration above shows a different direction for a possible large new Chrysler New-Yorker sedan.

The first Chrysler New Yorker was produced in 1940 and the last one in 1996. Through many generations, it went from a giant luxury sedan to a much smaller FWD model based on Chrysler’s LH cab forward platform.

Of course, a new EV sedan based on the STLA platform could be anything Stellantis wants. RWD, FWD, or AWD.

The Halcyon concept is actually weird since it is an enigma. The production car could look like anything. I think Chrysler could do worse than a retro-futuristic with a few older design cues.

I really like the Halcyon, but I think a translation to production would be really hard to do.

Who knows…
