2026 Volvo ES90.

Last Updated:

Volvo just released a couple of new teasers for their all-new ES90 EV sedan. There will be a full reveal in just a few days, on March 5th.

The new sedan will share its platform with the Volvo EX90. And will probably share many design cues with the SUV as well. And maybe most of its interior design. Which would be just fine since the EX90’s interior is very luxurious and impressive.

These new teasers seem to show a hatchback design. With a long rear window that almost extend to the rear end of the car. Volvo is now claiming a 435 miles EV range, in the localChinese test cycle. Which could still translate into about 370 miles EPA.

“Combine this with completely new battery management software and hardware as well as a progressive design, and you get a car that goes further and charges faster than any electric Volvo before. The ES90 can add 300 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes at 350 kW fast charging stations and offers a driving range of up to 700 kilometres under the WLTP testing cycle. “

Volvo has not said much yet. Here is the official word from a few months ago:

“Fully electric and in a class of its own. Our next-generation luxury sedan is designed for a life in balance. The ES90 will be officially revealed in March 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden.”

The teaser seems to show a very familiar Volvo sedan design. It still looks a lot like the S60 or S90. Nothing futuristic I guess. Which will probably age well.

It’s also hard to tell from these teasers if the car will have a hatchback or not.

Of course, it is too early to know if the new EV sedan will make it to North America or not. But it could. BMW sells the i5 and i7 over her, and Mercedes offers the EQE and EQS. The Tesla Model S is still around and the Lucid Air is doing better. Audi is also sending us the new A6 e-Etron sedan.

The new Volvo ES90 wouldn’t be alone. And it could only be more popular than the current S90 which only sold around 2000 units last year.

Besides the new ES90, Volvo will also refresh the good old S90 sedan.
