Chrysler Cordoba.

Every few weeks or months, we hear from Chrysler that the brand isn’t dead. New cars are coming.

So far, the plan is for a new EV SUV related to the Jeep Wagoneer S sometime late this year or next year. Then, a heavy refresh of the Chrysler Pacifica, as well as an all-new EV Minivan based on the STLA platform. If the brand can stay alive that long.

At least, there seems to be a plan, somewhere. Which is quite different from the old dark Margionne days when the brand was starved of anything new.

But what would really be nice, and probably not a money maker at all, would be a new large coupe. One that could easily be based on the new 2025 Dodge Charger. A more traditional and luxurious take on a modern large EV coupe.

The new 2025 Dodge Charger is a true comeback of the big American coupe. Like we had in the 1970s. It is not only longer than the Challenger it replaces, but it is about the size of a Mercedes S-Class! At over 206 inches long, it is about the same size as the 1968 model.

A new Chrysler coupe could, of course, be called a “Cordoba“. Which would be both fun and kind of weird. While the original 1st generation Cordoba from the late 1970s was longer than the new Charger at 215 inches, the shorter 2nd generation was pretty close. At around 2010 inches.

A large, luxurious 2-door Chrysler could be around the corner if they wanted to. Of course, there isn’t much of a market these days for a car like this. We’ll have to see how the new 2025 Charger does.

Something that could be a much more stylish alternative to SUVs we see everywhere. A more luxurious Chrysler version could pick up a few customers who want something fancier. Something almost no one else offers these days.
