2025 Mazda 6

Last Updated:

Wishful thinking is a powerful force and in full display in these “new” illustrations.

As far as I know, there has been zero evidence of a new Mazda 6 sedan coming out. There were many rumors a few years ago when Mazda announced work on a new RWD platform. Which is now used for their new SUVs like the CX-60 and CX-90. But a new sedan is still not in the cards.

That doesn’t stop illustrators from dreaming about a new generation Mazda 6. I think the last generation still looks good today. And better than some current offerings like the new 2023 Accord. The Mazda interior was also great. It is probably one of the best-used sedans you can buy today.

Unfortunately, Mazda will not be pouring money into a new sedan anytime soon. Unless the Chinese market is worth it on its own. It is for Buick, which actually still offers at least 3 sedan models in China.

If we ever see a new sedan from Mazda, it will be years from now, and it will be an EV, competing with the Model 3, ID.7, and Ioniq 6.

  1. Mazda has pretty much abandon the sedan market. The current 3 will soldier on until Mada pulls the plug on it in the next year or so.

  2. I think we have reached peak-crossover at this point in time. I really think that at some point in the not-too-distant future sedans will make a comeback. We are kind of already seeing that with the huge uptick in sales for the Chevy Malibu and a few others. There is only so many crossovers that can be shoved down the throats of consumers until they get rather sick of them. I think that time is now and eventually the market will swing back to sedans and even coupes making a resurgence.
