Citroen C3 Aircross/Jeep Renegade preview.

Last Updated:

Stelantis seems to be on a roll and is introducing new models one after another lately.

Just after the new Fiat Grande Panda, we see the new Citroen C3 Aircross. It is based on the same “Smart car” Platform from Stelantis as the Citroen eC3 and the Grand Panda. However, the new C3 Aircross and Opel Frontera are a bit longer than the Grand Panda and even have a 3rd-row seat option. Although as you can see on the bottom photo, that 3rd row seems to have close to zero legroom.

This is the platform rumored to be used for the upcoming new Jeep Renegade EV in the US. It will be interesting to see how different the Renegade will be. So far Stelantis has done a great job designing very different cars for all their brands, even when sharing almost everything.

The new C3 Aircross will be available with Hybrid as well as EV versions. That could mean a 25,000 Euro EV model. matching the promise of a $25,000 Jeep Renegade EV.

We’ll see…

  1. Going by a recent TopGear long-term test the Jeep Renegate is pretty rubbish in terms of reliability. Jeep is at the bottom with Land Rover. Citroen also has a long way to go, so does Fiat.

  2. I think you’re wrong.
If they are going this small they would just bring over the Avenger.

  3. The Avenger is a foot shorter than this new C3 Aircross. And much more expensive.

  4. Egads, what an overwrought homely front on that vehicle. Anything other than a complete restyling along the lines of the Avenger would be a complete sales disaster, I fear. I have doubts that there is much of a market for such a vehicle. It’s not truly off-road, not large enough for most SUV-addicted soccer moms. So, whose the demographic for this thing?

  5. Why the 3rd row of seats? Midsize SUV’s barely offer room in the 3rd row seat except for children and now there seems to be a car trend where all these compact SUV’s are now offering 3rd row seats? Practically leaving no room for trunk space. Sure the seats can be folded down but I thought I’d just give my take on that subject.
