2025 Porsche 718.

The illustration of the upcoming new Porsche 718 EV is both interesting as well as pretty bad. It’s always interesting to see what a new Porsche model could look like. Especially a cool future electric Porsche Convertible. But this one is pretty bad. It doesn’t really match the most recent spy shots we have seen of the new Porsche.
The rear end seems way too long and we can already see the final headlight design on the camouflaged prototype, which is very different from the illustration.
The 2025 Porsche 718 will be replacing the current Porsche 718 Boxter. Like all new Porsche models coming out, the new 718 will be an EV, replacing the good old ICE versions.
No specs yet or pricing of course. But the new Macan EV is priced at almost $20,000 more than the previous ICE version. The current Boxter starts at around $75,000. This is already pretty crazy, but an EV version at almost $100,000 to start would be quite shocking.
Let’s hope it ends up looking much nicer than this illustration. Knowing Porsche, it probably will…
This is so depressing to look at. I guess I’ll get the current gen, specifically a GTS 4.0. Porsche realized too late, like many others who are going all-in on EV’s, that this is not the direction that driving enthusiasts want to go in, but just like the Macan and the upcoming electric Cayenne, they are too far into the development cycle of these products, that they have no other choice but to release them, even if they will be received poorly. I think their best option is to release this EV product, but to continue offering a refreshed version of the current ICE version of this car alongside it.
Agree with Mark – this is a sad day. The mid-engined cars are some of the best Porsche has ever produced. It’s too bad the blind devotion to the 911 rear-engine platform seems to have become a religion. Sigh.. I’m good with electric McCans and Cyans, why do they need to kill the excellent mid-engined cars?
