Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept.
Last Updated:
The idea of a fast (Velicity), Luxury (Opulent) car is not a new one. And yet, Cadillac thinks they can bring something new to the table with this new concept.
I remember seeing a vague teaser about this a few months ago and never heard anything since. Today we finally get to see the whole thing. While it looks really nice from some angles, ( I really like the retro-futuristic feel of the rear-end design), it is just a pure concept car with no connection to reality at all. A nice design exercise in a world where Cadillac needs to inspire with a great-looking production car.
Cadillac claims the new concept is “a future vision of performance for the V Series“. This means that of course, they will soon offer V Series versions of their new Ultium-based EVs. But it could also mean an all-new specific V-Series model in the future. Something that would only be available as a V-Series.
Otherwise, the press kit is layered with corporate BS talk like:
.Opulent: Luxury of time
.Velocity: Art of exhilarating performance
.Iconic profile and hypercar exterior
.Artful integration and user experiences
.Progressive and intentional color, materials, and finishes.
And my favorite: Pure expression of the future
What we really need to see is at least one of the two new EV sedans they’ve been working on.
Super ugly
The rear is too long and impractical but the front half is beautiful. I especially like the front end- sleek, dynamic, and classy. A great new look for Cadillac in the 21st century.
