Future Mustangs.

Last Updated:

Ford CEO Jim Farley mentioned a few things about the company’s future models a few days ago.

They will mainly concentrate on pushing their iconic names like Mustang, Bronco, Tremor (IS Tremor really considered iconic now?), and Maverick.

I guess they can come up with more SUVs under the Bronco name. The upcoming smaller and cheaper EV SUV could be some kind of a Bronco “something”. They can also add a larger 3-row model also called Bronco. However, I’m not sure how far they could go.

The situation is even worse for “Maverick”. Which used to be a sedan in the 1970s, and is now a small pickup. I guess that again, the new upcoming small pickup could also use the name Maverick.

The Mustang name is more interesting. Since we already have a Mustang Mach-e on top of the “regular” Mustang coupe and convertible. I think a convertible Ford Mustang Mach-e EV would be great. Based on the current Mach-e. Or maybe the upcoming second generation, coming out in 2026. The illustration on top shows what a “Mustang Mach-e Convertible” could look like.

An easy extra Mustang model would be an obvious one. A 2 door wagon version of the current Mustang coupe. Something that would require a colossal amount of R&D. Also an idea Ford has been thinking about since the 1960s.

I’m really not sure what they can do with “Tremor” except what they are doing now. Which is basically the name for sporty versions of trucks.

At least a few more Mustangs would be pretty cool

  1. The convertible makes some sense, even though they sell at extremely low numbers these days. What that offers is image. But the 2 dr wagon is just wacky. Its a car no one wants. A decent four door wagon that isn’t low to the ground (a tweener between car and SUV) seems like the right formula.

  2. I know I’m in a minority – but I would likely buy that 2-Door Wagon in an instant. It pushes all of the right buttons for me.

  3. “What if we came up with a new name for a new model?” – Normal intelligence
“What if we just called everything a Mustang?” – Ford intelligence
