Tesla Model Y 3 row version.

Last Updated:

Right before the revised Tesla Model Y came out a few weeks ago, there were rumors of a new longer version with a 3rd row of seats. Something that could also be specific to the Chinese market.

The spy shots above are supposed to show a prototype of the new upcoming 3 row model. To me they look exactly the same as the current Model Y. And not longer at all. Even the shape of the hatch seems the exact same as in the current Y.

The photos could still show a 3 row tesla Model Y. The images above are of the previous generation Lexus RX. A model that came with 2 different body styles. Seating 5 or 7 with a third row. Of course, that 3rd row of seats wasn’t very roomy and delaers eventually begged Lexus to come up with a larger, roomier model. Which gave us the recurrent Lexus TX.

Still, there seems very little difference outside from the 2 row and 3 row models. While the 3 row RX-L model was around 4 inches longer. Something that is very hard to tell from photos. That would mean the Tesla prototype could somehow still have a 3rd row in there…

It’s of course not the first time Tesla try to sell a 3rd row in the Model Y. For a few years, this practically unuseable joke of a 3rd row seat was a $3000 option.
