Acura will show us the all-new RSX EV very soon. It will be based on Honda’s brand-new EV platform.
While Honda has shown prototypes for both an SUV and a Sedan, we’ve only heard of the new RSX SUV for Acura. However, that could easily change. Since these 3 new models will be using the same platform. A new Acura version of the 0 Series Saloon concept wouldn’t be such a stretch.
If Acura decided to keep at least one sedan in its lineup, of course, the most logical move would be to replace the slow-selling TLX sedan with the new 0 Series-based model. With only 7378 units sold, the poor old TLX is far from popular these days. That is a few units under the total ZDX EV sales for 2024.
It’s hard to guess the pricing for all these new Honda/Acura EVs. So far it seems the RSX won’t be that super expensive, just because of the RSX nameplate history. Which used to be the cheapest Acura available after it replaced the Integra. The best guess is the RSX basically replacing the current RDX after 2026. However, Honda is reconsidering canceling the RDX after 2026. Which would make things confusing.
A new Acura sedan would have much more space above the Integra.
On the Honda side, the production version of the 0 Series Saloon Concept will be Honda’s flagship sedan above the Accord. One thing is sure, it will have to be priced much lower than the crazy Afeela EV at around $90,000.
The current Honda Accord tops at over $40,000 these days. The fancier and much more advanced new sedan could easily get well over $50,000 before incentives. However, the $49,000 Honda Prologue is currently for lease at around $210 a month. And the $65,000 Acura ZDX will set you back only $299 a month on its lease deal.
That means an expensive new 0 series saloon EV could end up costing about the same when leasing. With an even fancier Acura version, not that much more.
