Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid test drive. Coming up.
Last Updated:

I have been driving the hatchback version of the new Honda Civic Hybrid for a few days.
In many ways a wonderful car. However, like most of us, flawed.
I have been waiting a long time for this since Honda had mentioned a new Hybrid version of the Civic was coming, a few years ago. Like many, I was hoping the new powertrain would make it to the hatchback design. Hopefully becoming the best Civic available. And in many ways, it is.
The current Honda Civic is very popular with over 223,000 units sold last year. Yet the current generation has never reached the popularity of the previous model Which reached up to ever 377,000 units in 2017. Even in its last full year of 2020, it sold more than the current model ever has.
As usual, feel free to ask any questions about the car. I will be posting a full review very soon as well as a video.
On other groups, I’ve been hearing about interior quality issues – doors, dash, rattles, etc… that this generations is cheapened where you can’t see it (but can feel it) and not well put together. Can you comment on its underlying feeling of quality… I’ll be interested in your impressions. I’m considering this to replace my gen9 Civic, which just keeps going. It still looks great, the doors have a solid ‘thunk’ when closed, and it just feels substantial and well built. Our 2018 CRV doesn’t have that same feeling of quality. Its nice, but there’s the tinny door sound and it doesnt feel substantial.
Yes, the interior door panels aren’t the best. They actually bend a bit when you push in. Which is very weird, but also, something most people will never do. However, the doors do have a very nice solid think when closed. That’s better than before. Otherwise I still prefer the previous generation.
I bet folks are walking in for a Civic and leaving with an HR-V now.
How is road noise?
