2027 Acura RSX.

Acura just showed us what the all-new Acura RSX will look like. In the form of this “prototype”, which is basically the upcoming production car with a few “concept-like” details. Like the camera side mirrors. Maybe even the large 21-inch wheels or the 2 tone paint. Otherwise, this is it.

Of course, fans of the old RSX will be pissed off to see the transformation of the old nameplate into an electric SUV. However, Acura did try to revive the cool hatchback sedan idea with the current Integra. (Which was basically the same thing as the old RSX since “RSX” became the new name for the US name for the 4th generation Integra in 2001).

So far, these hardcore Acura sedan fans have not stepped up to the plate. The current larger TLX sedan is being phased out after only 7378 “fans” bought one last year. And the Integra isn’t doing great either, with sales down by at least 28% this year. It seems the “fans” are very vocal about Acura bringing back sedans, but they’re not actually buying them. It’s just the same thing with the Mustang.

The new RSX will be the first new model produced on Honda’s all-new EV platform. This will also give us the production version of the Honda 0-Series SUV and sedan. Considering the previously mentioned sales numbers, Acural will probably not offer a sedan model based on the platform.

Here is the official word:

“The production version of the highly anticipated Acura RSX is a significant next step in the performance brand’s electrification strategy, as the first model engineered in-house on the new Honda-developed EV platform and the first EV produced at the Honda EV Hub flexible manufacturing facility in Ohio, using domestic and globally made parts. RSX will be built on the same Marysville Auto Plant production line as the Acura Integra, showcasing the company’s flexible approach that enables Honda to build internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid-electric and battery electric vehicles (EVs) on the same production lines.

Expected to arrive in the second half of 2026, the production RSX will accelerate Acura into the Software Defined Vehicle era, introducing the world to ASIMO OS – an exclusive new, global operating system designed to learn the preferences and driving behavior of the vehicle’s owner to deliver an ultra-personal in-car experience.”

Since the production RSX is not due for another full year, we might actually see the Honda version first. Which seems ready to go from what we saw a few months ago.

I think this new RSX looks pretty nice so far. A very clean design that is much more attractive than what the brand is currently offering. It also seems pretty compact. Which could mean “cheaper than the ZDX”. Which would be quite nice…

  1. Take the Acura badges off the front and the back, & I saw this car out there… even I might think the front is a Buick & the back. Looks like a Lexus.

  2. Since Acura is more than willing to ruin an old nameplate, why don’t they come out with a larger version of this and all it the NSX?

  3. Why don’t Acura fans that scream for sedans buy them? Better yet, why do so many Integra purchasers trade theirs after a year or two? Because Acura didn’t give them what they wanted. They wanted an Integra in feeling, and they got a dressed up Civic with cr@p seats and the same switchgear and drivetrain. There are pages filled with comments about Acura’s cheap build on the Integra – door and dash rattles, engine code errors, etc… Acura must think that’s part of the premium experience. But Acura sedan buyers knew a different Acura – and that’s what they want.

  4. Wow!! And the Honda/Acura fanboys will buy one and get their feels from people gawking at it for the first 6 months lol. Then nobody will care and they’ll trade it in for an Accord.

  5. I get that Acura wanted a new design direction. They dissolved the Acura design studio. Its all just Honda now. But if you throw out everything and start over, you’re also starting over with your customer base. There’s nothing about this that says Acura other than its badging. This is part of why they keep failing.
