2027 Kia Telluride.

Last Updated:

Kia has just released the very first teaser images for the all-new redesigned Kia Telluride SUV.

These of course look a lot like the mutlitude of spy shots and illustrations we have seen over the past year or so. That new design won’t really be a big surprise after all we’ve already seen.

The new model will be unviled at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month, and Kia isn’t saying much abou tit yet. They are saying something, but it’s pretty menaingless so far:

“Firmly rooted in Kia’s Opposites United form language that embraces the contrasts between nature and humanity, the teaser images hint at a square-shouldered, upright silhouette framed by thin vertical LEDs bathed in red and amber. Inspired by its namesake Colorado town, aggressively defined triangular creases in the fenders resemble the chiseled facets of a diamond and capture the essence of the towering Rocky Mountains.

A broad hood with clean, straight lines establishes a powerful stance. At the rear, the beltline rises subtly to intersect the D-pillar, which rakes forward, suggesting movement even when the vehicle is sitting still. Black inserts at the top of the pillar make the flat roofline appear to float atop the windows. Broad fender surfaces give the vehicle a planted, authoritative presence while fluid body contours lend an elegant shape to the side profile.”

That’s the official PR BS word from Kia so far about the new design. A lot of words put together in a way that is actually not saying much.

The new Telluride will still be closely related to the Hyundai Palisade. For this upcoming 2nd generation, that means power from a 3.5 Liter V6 with 287HP. Or a 2.5 Liter Turbo Hybrid setup with 329HP, good for 34MPG, combines with FWD.

The current Telluride has been a big hit for Kia ever since it came out in 2019. And its design is still pretty fresh. And it is even more popular than ever, with over 115,000 of them sold last year alone. That number has increased every single year since 2019.

The new design seems like it has lost some of its personality. It is now very angular. We’ll have to see if the new generation will be as popular as the current model.

I personally don’t think so…

  1. The Palisade went from my favorite SUV to 2nd to least fav (the boring grand Highlander being least). I have a feeling I’m going to hate this box as well

  2. I never thought the previous generation looked modern. Both introduced for the 2020 model year, the Toyota Highlander looked much more modern to me. The only Highlander trim that looked very old to me was the XSE front end.
