Is this the next-generation 2027 Alfa-Romeo Stilvio?

It sure looks like it. And it sure looks like the many spy shots we have seen of the new SUV over the past year. If this is real, the new Alfa Stelvio could end up being quite stunning.

We’ve known for a while that the new, second-generation Stelvio is based on the Stellantis STLA platform. The new model was planned to be an EV-only model. Just like the Jeep Wagoneer S and the Jeep Recon. However, these plans have changed over the last couple of years, and it looks like the new Alfa will be offered with a multiple choice of powertrains. Which would obviously include Hybrid and PHEV versions.

The current Stelvio has never been a hit in the US. While its best year was its first full year in 2018, with 12,000 sold in over here, that number went down to 5338 in 2024. And probably under 3000 units last year. It even makes you wonder if a new one is even worth it. I remember that after the slow-selling Giulia sedan came out, they had high hopes for the SUV version in the US. Stelvio was seen as the savior of the brand.

Not only is a new one desperately needed, but it will take a fortune to actually let people in North America know that a new Alfa is coming. And that the brand is still around in the first place.

There have been rumors of Alfa’s demise in the US for a few years now. And even talks about Stellantis canceling the brand altogether or selling it off. (probably to a Chinese company)

I really think there could be dbe a future for Alfa-Romeo. However, it might always be a smaller niche brand. That “sporty, a bit upscale yet luxurious” space is getting crowded. With Polestar and now Alpine. Alfa desperately needs something to put

  1. HOLY CROW. Buying anything from Stellantis at this point is like throwing money down a hole.

  2. I like what they did with the taillights, but that’s all I see so far that impresses me.
