2027 Infiniti Q50: Everything We Know About the New Nissan Skyline.

The next-generation Skyline sedan is finally starting to take shape. And Nissan has already released a few early teasers. The car will return as a rear-wheel-drive model expected to be sold in the U.S. as the new Infiniti Q50.
The images above are new illustrations taken from a very short AI video. While they do show a front end that matches the official Nissan teaser, the rest of the car is pretty blah… The rear end on these images also doesn’t really match the official teaser from a few days ago.
An earlier illustration looked even worse and sparked debate online for looking a bit too close to the current Honda Accord. Something that would clearly disappoint Nissan fans hoping for a more distinctive design.
From what we can tell, the new model will keep a classic sedan profile instead of going for a fastback look. Hopefully, the final design feels truly new and not just a heavy refresh of the aging current model.
Under the hood, the new Infiniti sedan is expected to use the twin-turbo V6 from the Nissan Z, paired with a 6-speed manual. For enthusiasts and automotive journalists, that’s an exciting combination. But in today’s luxury market, rear-wheel-drive sedans with manual transmissions are a niche. Infiniti reportedly expects only about 10% of buyers to choose it.
Like the latest Z, the new Q50 may retain similar proportions to the current car, suggesting an evolution rather than a full redesign. This would help keep development costs down while still updating the styling, tech, and interior.
The reality is that the luxury market is now dominated by SUVs, crossovers, and EVs. Traditional gas-powered sport sedans are becoming increasingly rare. Some reports even suggest Infiniti canceled a nearly production-ready electric sedan to focus on this model.
This new Q50 will likely win praise from enthusiasts, but whether that translates into strong sales is another question. Infiniti once challenged the BMW 3 Series with the G35. But today’s buyers tend to prioritize technology, electrification, and versatility.
The next Q50 could end up as a niche hero for drivers who still want a classic sports sedan. Let’s just hope it looks much better than some of these early illustrations.
At the very least, it’s not another SUV with a giant grille.
