The New Chrysler 300 Stellantis Should Have Built First.

The new Chrysler most Americans want the most is not a small Fiat-based model like the upcoming Arrow. It is a new Chrysler 300 sedan.

The 300 sedan is remembered fondly by many, including previous owners who would actually buy a new one. The last generation was produced for 13 years and still looked good by the end of its run. Of course, after all that time, it was discontinued due to slow sales. The numbers had become pretty bad indeed, with just 5,300 sold in its final year. That was a huge drop from the previous year, when over 13,000 were sold. That generation saw its peak in 2012, with more than 70,000 units sold.

And yet, we got a brand-new Dodge Charger. But a new 300 never happened. Probably because Chrysler was, at one point during the Marchionne era, essentially scheduled for extinction. Now Chrysler is back, but still without the 300. What we will be getting instead are a pair of compact crossovers called the Arrow and Arrow Cross, as well as a larger SUV called the Airflow.

Of course, SUVs are an expected move, but a new 300 wouldn’t be that hard to develop. The STLA Large platform used by the new Dodge Charger is already here and ready to go.

A large, more upscale Chrysler sedan would really put the brand back on the map, especially at a time when sedans are slowly making a bit of a comeback. It wouldn’t have to cost an arm and a leg either. The 2023 model started at around $35,000. That was only three years ago, and now that’s almost the price of a Honda Civic Touring.

Even at $40,000 to start—or a bit more—a new 300 would cost about the same as a Toyota Crown, or not much more than a loaded Honda Accord Hybrid. A new “affordable” Chrysler 300 would have been a much better model to launch as part of Chrysler’s rebirth.

Something modern, upscale, and just a little retro.

GM is reportedly preparing not one, but three brand-new rear-wheel-drive sedans for Cadillac, Buick, and Chevrolet.

Chrysler could have easily been there first…

  1. Chrysler, known for big powerful sedans, has no sedans.

Boxy cars come back into style… Stellantis discontinues it.

  2. I agree. Chrysler should have started with a large sedan (300) instead of what everyone does (a compact SUV). That’s how you get lost in the field and overshadowed by better competitors. I’m sure they debated it and figured TWO large Stellantis cars would be too much. However, I don’t doubt they would have screwed that up, as theyve done time after time. The Charger never should have been a liftback, instead of a trunk with fold down rear seats. And a Chrysler 300 would have been built on the Charger – and compromised in the same ways (liftback, overweight, roof too low).

  3. In the image with the red 300, the front end is showing it’s CGI / AI roots. The image is disjointed.

  4. Chrysler just followed, anf didn’t lead. They need a Chrysler 300;based two door , based on Challanger , and an Imperial .
Make them the best, and charge accordingly.
    People are looking for quality.
    Nice reasonable convertible..
People are darn tired of Crossovers.
They say it to me all day.

  5. Those renderings are not how the 300 should look if it ever does return, which I do not see happening. I’m a diehard Mopar guy but it makes no sense for them to bring back the 300, at least not when sales numbers the last years of production continued to fall off more every year. The large sedan market isn’t strong enough to make the gamble worth it. Building the Arrow and Arrow plus SUV’S among other vehicles that are in the pipeline that will be priced affordably is a smart move on their part.

  6. Brampton assembly losing the 300, charger, and challenger was both devastating and unnecessary. We had 6 days of work because the orders never stopped coming they actually turned people away and laid off everyone with requests still coming in. Now stellantis is back to building V8 monsters but the plant where the modern mopar muscle cars were reincarnated in 2008 is still waiting for a new product to replace the Jeep compass they promised to the membership and gave it to Illinois. Brampton assembly plant started off as a state of the art AMC facility and has consistently built award winning vehicles for over 30 years under multiple owners and union evolution from UAW to UNIFOR. Brampton has earned its place and shouldn’t have such a hard time securing the retool and product to replace what was “discontinued”

  7. These images really aren’t too bad. Yeah they are a little disjointed, but the overall design is actually quite good. Fitting for a modern Chrysler.

  8. I am still driving my 2007 Chrysler SRT8. I am patiently waiting for a new Chrysler 300 sedan.

  9. I would be the first in line for a new 300. We owned 3 300s and were the best cars we ever owned. We also owned a Town and Country mini-van, which we loved. Of the many other vehicles, excluding Ram trucks, we would buy another 300 in a heartbeat. The 300 couldn’t be beat for long roadtrips and was easily driven in city traffic. My wheelchair bound wife could get in the 300 without any expensive devices being installed and the ride was not uncomfortable on long trips.

  10. Arrow?! Like that little coupe Plymouth imported way back when?! I’m not sure that name congers up positive memories for those who remember the name! But then again, if the Dart and the Hornet can be revived why not the Arrow! Somehow I don’t see them reviving the Gremlin name plate (lol!)!

  11. With Stellantis sales and most product offerings dismal, taking a huge risk with a new big sedan probably isn’t a wise move. Being “first” used to be what kept Chrysler a leader with minivans and K-Cars , but those were innovations that worked.
That said, our favorite car in our lifetime to date , was our 2006 300C. It was great looking , extremely comfortable, and with the 5.7 Hemi it had tons of power for the day. I want Chrysler to survive but I’m not convinced it will.

  12. If you keep the Charger, you make the 300, it’s the Sister car. Furthermore if Grand Caravan is at 60 percent of Dodge sales why in the Hell would you discontinue your #1 seller. Stellantis wake up, loyal Mopar buyers don’t want your rebadged Fiats and Alphas, go back to Europe and stay there

  14. I am not an SUV individual. I prefer lower cars and hatchbacks. I would like to see Chrysler make cars like the K4 and K5 as they are proving to be popular again. I would come back to Chrysler if they did. I have had Kia since 2014.

  15. I bought a BMW because Chrysler discontinued the Sebring and 200 convertibles. Would have loved to give Chrysler my money. To this day I stand by my statement the 2009 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible is the best car I have ever owned and driven and I’ve driven many, many cars, such a shame.

  16. I would take a sedan any day of the week the Impala had more trunk space and leg room the 80% of these useless small crossovers and I would get better gas mileage

  17. Chrysler should do a “HEAD SHAKING DESIRE TO OWN” and launch both a renewed and redesigned modern 300 & pull a completely out of the past redesigned modern version of the DESOTO!”

  18. I really don’t understand what people don’t like about the Chrysler 300s, or 300 touring etc.i both a 2007 and I now have a 2022 Chrysler 300.and i love them both. And the price is good.

  19. I believe that stalantis should focus primarily on building a reliable quality automotive product before they start thinking about all the different models they could build. If you build the worst cars for sale, who’s going to want to buy them? but I have been a Chrysler Corporation customer for more than 50 years and have watched stalantis as well as a couple others completely disassembled reliable quality products into something. todd, even used car dealers don’t want to buy because of their lack of reliability. I think if you could bumper-to-bumper warranty it for 10 years and make people have confidence again in what you build then it would be a different story. there is a market out there for the mid to large sedan, not everyone wants an SUV, or a sports car. I also believe that when you build a quality product at a reasonable price, customers will come, just look at the Japanese automakers, the Korean auto makers, and now unfortunately the Chinese auto makers. I think you should do it right, invest in quality and make it affordable and people will choose you over others.

  20. I had a 2018 300. Wanted a smaller RWD gas car. Is that too hard to ask? I skipped the under powered Meredes C 300 and their E. Their 2.0 ltr is too weak for their bulk. I bot a BMW 2 Dr 230i. A lot smaller. But great small car to drive. I got my driver’s license in a 1964 Chrysler Imperial.

  21. I’m sick because the big stopped building a sedan please give it another try

  22. BIG MISTAKE to not bring back the iconic Chrysler 300. Also, where’s the ‘CUDA that was in the works? Too much money and product resources wasted on Stellantis’ European Brands. If Stellantis is not interested in the North American market, sell off CDJR to someone who is (You can start by picking up the Stellantis Stock I just dumped!).

  23. Sales faltered in my opinion because they made so few with the V8. The 6 cylinder didn’t cut it. Neither will the crossover. We want a powerful sedan that captures the power of the Challenger and the luxury of the 300.

  24. For a long time Americans stopped buying sedans because SUVs had much more cargo area. That trend might be trending back. This Chrysler looks very classy and high end, kind of like a Lincoln. Hopefully it has better reliability than the Lincoln.

  25. OR REVIVE NEW YORKER,NEWPORT,OR CORDOBA JUST LIKE THE IMPERIAL THIS TIME?! ACCENTUATE QUALITY,ON LEVEL:LEXUS, M-B,VOLVO, ETC.ADD WHITEWALL TIRES, REAL WOODGRAIN, LEATHER AND QUARTZ CRYSTAL DASH TO SET APART FROM DODGE CHARGER?

  26. Bring back the 2023 body style with the red eye. That’s it all i want. None of this new rounded body lines that look like a knock-off toyota.

  27. The Arrow is not a name people recall, but was a cheap little car.I have no idea what Stellantis is even doing with the Chrysler Group. Very shameful. Chrysler is about larger comfortable dependable cars. And look what you did with Dodge? That big ugly Charger is a nothing burger. My 23 Challenger has a larger interior. Get your act together Stellantis.

  28. Because They’re Want Because They’re Love A European Styles For Stellantis And Ram Promaster City Is Fiat Dicato Badges

  29. Because They’re Want Japanese Cars Are Coming In USA And That Good Are But What About AMC, Chrysler And Dodge Car

  30. Why is it so hard to post a full side shot of these vehicles!? My God! And its not just these guys, its everywhere. It should be the first Pic. Am I right? Or just being neg.

  31. I have the last of the 300’s my 2023 300C
Is by all accounts one of my favorites.
There is plenty of demand for this model as is.
If Stellantis brings back this model with newer upgrades such as a more aggressive body lines
and some new features to match 2026 technologies this car would be in a class of it’s own. And would sell very well in a declining market.
