Next Jaguar XJ illustrations
Last Updated:
British magazine Autocar has published these new illustrations of the upcoming new large Jaguar sedan.
Not sure if they were done for the magazine or if they actually came from Jaguar, somehow.
But they look like what Jaguar needs.
Although a bit close to the new XF, the S type replacement.
Although it doesn’t look bad, it reminds me of what Crysler did with the Intrepid and Concorde in the nineties.
can someone explain why this would be better than a cadilac?
if you’re american and you want luxury you get a cadillac or a lincoln
theyre is nothing wrong with tradition
well can’t go wrong taking from the s type replacement. lets see how fast they can get these beautiful vehicles to market, ford isnt going to invest any more if these dont fly
Nothing about this says Jaguar. Ford has lost its mind.
Given jags market history the last 15 years that is the point. Fortunately the same designer that put Astin in the black is doing jag.

Every Jaguar, Benz, or Bimmer I’ve ever been in feels like it’s carved out of solid steel and drives like it’s on rails. Cadillacs are fine automobiles, but they lack that same solidity. With that said, all of them fall short on reliability compared to Acura or Lexus.

You make a very good point, but this rendering reminds me of how Chris Bangle ruined BMW designs in a short amount of time. At least in my opinion. Sales may show something else. Many people probably like Bangle’s influence, but I also see BMW moving away from his more radical elements.
Jag have tried the ‘traditional’ design with the current XJ, which was a modernised version of the old XJ (X308). The current XJ design is as it is because Ford didn’t want to upset the USA market with a bold new design (which they had available), all the design clinics had said that customers wanted a classic Jag. That has fallen flat on it’s face as shown with the falling sales, and I think it’s time for Jaguar to led the way in vehicle design with these new cars. Jag can not keep looking to the past and letting Merc, BMW, and Lexus take sales from them. Well done Jaguar!
