Acura ZDX video.

Last Updated:

This is a short video I did while I had the pleasure of driving around in a new Acura ZDX Type-S for a week.

The Type-S is the most expensive trim, at over $73,000. While there is a “cheaper” 2WD single motor version available starting at $64,500.

As you can see, pricing is the main problem for the new Acura ZDX. Since the top of the line Honda Prologue Elite AWD is priced at around $58,000.

The ZDX and Prologue are very similar, even if they look very different. There are many similarities inside between the two, and they both share switchgear with the Chevrolet Blazer EV. While GM made sure every visible part of the Cadilalc Lyriq was different and more upscale, Acura didn’t do that with the ZDX. The choice of materials on the dashboard is just odd and not very upscale at all. And especially, not better than the Prologue.

Of course, the Type-S does have more power with almost 500HP. But the Honda Prologue Elite is already faster than most people will need or even want.

t is a different story when leasing. The official Axura advertized lease on the ZDX is $499 a month with $6000 down for 3 years. But you can find much better. Still, the Prologue Touring 2WD is advertised at as low as $289 a month with $2100 down on Honda’s site, which is quite an offer for a $53,000 loaded car.

All I am saying is the eAcura is overpriced for what it is, no matter how nice it is. Which is a shame since it is a great driving car. But one that is squeezed in between other Ultium models, the Honda Prologue and the rule luxurious Cadillac Lyriq. However, the Acura’s exterior design is much cleaner than the Cadillac and seems newer too, since we first saw the Lyriq back in 2020 as a concept car. And 2022 as a production model.
