Chrysler is coming with their first EV next year. A nice new sedan wouldn’t be the worst thing, would it?
However, we already know they are planning 3 new crossovers/SUVs for the next few years. And of course, an electric Minivan later, around 2029.
What they need is something. Anything, and they needed it yesterday. A new sedan based on the new Dodge Charger EV wouldn’t be such a bad thing. It could also be done quicker than a fully new car even if they will all be sharing the same platform anyway. A 4-door new Chrysler sedan based on the upcoming Charger would at least put the brand back in the news, which is something that is also desperately needed.
Dodge is transitioning from the Challenger to the new 2025 Charger pretty quickly. They didn’t wait years to replace the old Challenger.
Chrysler would even have a bunch of names to pick from. From the recent past like “Concorde” or “300”. Or some more vintage monikers like “New Yorker” or “Newport”. Whatever they call it, they need it.
Chrysler’s first new model will probably be a version of the new Jeep Wagoneer S. Just like the Dodge Stealth and Durango EV. Although it might have to be priced even higher than the eJeep since you know, it’s a Chrysler. Something that could be difficult with Jeep’s recent move upmarket and pretty crazy prices.
Either way, I want to see a new Chrysler and I really wonder what the new language design could be. As the Halcyon concept design wouldn’t really translate into anything actually being produced.
Especially an SUV…
SMH. Chrysler (and I really mean Stellantis) couldn’t find their axxes if it had a neon sign pointing at it, saying HERE’S YOUR AXX. Chrysler needs a new sedan. A new crossover. An updated minivan – NOW. and they need to be hybrids. Since Stellantis HAS hybrids, they either have no confidence in those systems to go against Toyota and Honda,…or… they can’t make their EVs work pricewise without pushing them on America to cover their costs for the European sales. Either way, Carlos is gonna lose that fight.
