Mazda 6e.

The all-new Mazda 6e is landing in Europe this year. And next year in the UK. Mazda’s latest EV is new and yet we’ve seen it before.

The new Mazda 6e is the overseas version of the Mazda EZ 6 that went on sale in China a few months ago. Itself, based on a Chinese model from Changan.

Mazda has made a few revisions to the European version and so far will only sell the EV model. A PHEV is also available in China. Just like the EZ6, the European 6e does look like a Mazda. It is a very nice-looking car with an upscale interior. With a proper hatchback and a seemingly huge cargo area. Something that could compete with both the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.

2 battery sizes are available in Eupre, 68.8kWh and 80kWh. rated at 298 and 343 miles on the European test cycle.

I think this new EV could find an audience in Europe. Not only competing against the Model Y and 3 but also the many new Chinese models offered over there. As well as others from Local European manufacturers. Like the new Peugeot e-408 or Citroen e-C4. Both of these have overcomplicated and clumsy designs when compared to the clean look of the Mazda 6e.

of course, the new Mazda is actually built in China and will be burdened with tariffs when it goes on sale in Europe later this year. But so will other Chinese-built cars. And North American sales are definitely not likely, which is too bad.
