Zeekr 7X.

Last Updated:

The new Zeekr 7X has been launched and it coming for the Tesla Model Y. In China as well as Europe.

The 7X was introduced in China late last year and for over 58,000 orders in 20 days. The new model is based on Zeekr/Geely’s new open-source 800V platform called PMA2+. Which is currently used for the Zeekr 007 sedan.

At least on paper, it seems to be a formidable competitor to the new revised Model Y. The 7X is just 3 inches longer than the Tesla. It offers a 75kEh or a larger 100kWh battery from CATL. An air suspension is available as an option.

3 versions will be available in Europe. Core RWD for 53,000 Euros. Long Range RWD for 56,000 Euros. And Privilege AWD for 63,000 Euros. In Germany, the Tesla Model Y (older version) starts at 45,000 Euros. 49,000 for the long-range and 55,000 for the AWD. The new Launch Series is 61,000.

As you can see, Zeekr is pricing itself as a more premium option compared to Tesla. And I think it can. At least from the photos above, the interior looks much more premium than any Tesla model available today. However, an 8,000 premium over the base Model Y might be too much.

So far, they’ve sold 15,000 cars outside of China in the past 2 years. And that’s just the beginning. They are now selling various models in 11 countries outside of China. They are targeting annual sales of 320,000.

Of course, nothing for the US. However, they officially entered the Mexican market last July with the Zeekr X and 001. They also had 3 models on display at the CES show in Las Vegas a few weeks ago. Since they are connected to Volvo, they could possibly use Volvo’s factories in Europe and the US to avoid tariffs in the future. Who knows.

it would be quite interesting to see what would happen if Zeekr did enter the North American market.

Would anyone here consider actually a Zeekr?

  1. “The interior looks much more premium than any Tesla model available today.” Really, Vince? Looking at the photo, I can’t agree with that statement. It is perhaps a shade above Tesla. But not by much.

  2. I personally hate virtually every Chinese/Tesla interior. They all look the same. They all look like if some dumb-dumb wanted to reinvent car interiors so that you didn’t have any controls. Great! They also suck to be in. Teslas and Chinese EVs are great cars for NPCs, but not actual real people.

  3. Zeekr’s new 7X SUV and 007 sedan rival the Tesla Model Y with premium features and competitive pricing in Europe. Potential North American expansion could disrupt the EV market, raising the question of consumer preference.
