2024 Fiat 500e. US.

Last Updated:

We’ve already seen the “new” Fiat 500e since it came out in Europe back in 2021. Fiat even brought a couple of units at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show. But it took all this time to get news about the pricing and specs of the US model.

Price will start at $ 32,500 plus destination, which seems pretty cheap, at first. Although it doesn’t seem to qualify for federal incentives and is the same price as a Tesla Model 3 after incentives. It is also more expensive than the current Mini SE EV which starts at $30 900.

As for specs, the small 21.0 kWh battery is good for 149 miles. Which, in 2024, is pretty bad, even if it’s better than the current Mini SE. A new 2025 Mini EV due out in a few months will be getting a longer range. We are also getting a brand new-generation Chevrolet Bolt in 2025.

At least Fiat will give you a home charger that can fill up the battery in a bit over 4 hours.

The first units of the new 500e in the US will be a special “RED Edition” that raises money for HIV and AIDS research.

As you can see from the second pic, our US 500e looks the same as its European cousin. The RED model, the only one available in the US for a while, doesn’t get any chrome, which is really too bad as it looks great on the European version.

I really cannot see this as a hit in North America. First, 149 miles, no matter how small the car is, is behind the times. Second, this is already not a car for everyone, and you can only get it in one color. Fiat mentioned other colors or versions could be available later, but they’re not saying for how long they’ll offer only one color.

Maybe other versions will be cheaper? As they should be. This is a bit of a disappointment since I was really looking forward to seeing the 500e in the US. It’s a great-looking design. Instead, it looks like a few of us will see a red-colored one, once in a while. At least for the first year or so.

Selling a niche vehicle in only one color with specs from a few years ago isn’t really the way to revitalize the Fiat brand in the US, is it…

  1. It would be great if Fiat could realize that Americans dont want their **** foisted on us, particularly this one.

  2. from some web site:

Fiat sales in the U.S. decreased by 83.5% in 2021, to 2,057 vehicles. This was due to the ongoing chip shortage and the discontinuation of several models, such as the Fiat 500L and the Fiat 500X. Fiat sales in the U.S. decreased by 90.7% in 2022, to 160 vehicles.”

Which means if they sell 16 in the US then it’s “FIAT is BACK BABY!!!!! 10% increase in sales!!!!”
