2025 Honda Passport.

The Honda Passport will be all-new for 2025. The illustration above shows what it could look like.
As before, it will be based on the larger Honda Pilot. It will only be a year or so behind the new generation 2023 Pilot, unlike the current Passport which came out in 2018 and was based on the Previous Honda Pilot introduced in 2015.
While the current Passport is a very comfortable and roomy SUV, it never looked good and already seemed old the day it came out. They’ve been redesigning the front end a couple of times since, but there’s no hiding that it is basically an older, previous-generation vehicle. Just like the Honda Ridgeline.
The new Passport will be a slightly shorter 2-row version of the 2023 Passport. With a few different design cues here and there, especially in the back. The interior is expected to be exactly the same as the Pilot, which is fine. It is also expected to retain the wonderful 3.5 Liter V8 and 10-speed auto from the current Pilot, which is great news.
It seems Honda has nothing in between the 1.5 Liter Turbo and the big 3.5 Liter V6 to offer these days. Except for the 2.0 Liter Hybrid which, at least in its current form, would not make enough power to fit in the Passport. And they don’t seem to have a larger or more powerful hybrid system available.
The new Pilot will battle the new-generation Nissan Murano when it comes out. These are two SUVs I thought were going the be discontinued. And they will (probably) both still over V6 engines.
Does Honda have any larger turbo engines in other markets that they’ve connected to the hybrid system? I love Honda. Sometimes, they’re brilliant; Sometimes infuriatingly slow or off-target…at least here in the US. But at least they got rid of the former Detroit execs from the mid 2000’s-to-20-teens that face-planted the company. This Pilot will do well. But Honda NEEDS a big hybrid, at least for the Odyssey.
The taillights of the current model are so bad. Don’t they get it?
I knew it was coming, but I’m still surprised. It’s a good fit between the CR-V and the Pilot, but sales haven’t been strong.
