Acura EV performance concept.
Last Updated:
Acura just unveiled their new EV Concept simply called the “EV performance concept”. I guess no one could agree on a real name…
The new Concept is described as a preview of Acura‘s next EV. So this is not some crazy design experiment. It will be based on an all-new Honda-developed EV platform. Which is probably the same platform that will be used in Honda’s production version of the 0 Series Saloon Concept. The new Acura will also be built in Ohio, with production starting in late 2025. The new Acura EV will actually come out before the Honda version.
That’s just about a year away. I think the design looks great and the timing is perfect since it will probably end up being a replacement for the current Acura RDX. Which will be over 7 years old by then.
Even if the new Acura EV concept looks almost ready for production, a word of caution is in order. Let’s also remember the concept Acura shared before the production version of the new Acura ZDX. While the ZDX does look very modern, it was toned down by quite a lot when compared to the earlier concept. Let’s just hope the new concept doesn’t change too much in its translation to production.
It’s also good to see Honda working on new EVs from different fronts. the new Honda Prologue seems to be selling well and I see more and more Afeela promos. The strange car produced with Sony is expected in the spring of 2026.

Let’s just make a Buick Envista that’s an EV and twice as expensive! Or more!!
What they should make is an actual Buick Envista. That would sell like crazy if it was an Acura!
A couple takes on this. First, this looks like $h!t and I’m glad I’m not looking for an EV.
Having said that, this doesn’t bode well for Acura products if this is their design direction and they are designated as the North American Honda Division that will lead EV sales. With Acura’s designs having so many hot fails, why is Dave Marek still employed?
Point 2 – I dont have a lot of hope for the ADX if this is the kind of trash they’re putting out of their design group, let alone any hope for an upcoming RDX. This is just a big swing and a miss. It leaves me wishing (as Neal said), they would make an Integra/Invista with a hybrid drivetrain.
I wouldn’t have said this before. But I’m now ready for Acura to just close up shop and be done with it.
