Lincoln Navigator.
Last Updated:
The Lincoln Navigator just got a pretty extensive refresh for the 2025 model year. It sure looks a bit better than before, but does it look “2025 good”?
Not really. The revised Navigator still mostly looks like the one that was introduced in 2018 as the 4th generation. Which itself didn’t look that different from the previous one introduced back in 2007.
Just like the giant pickup trucks they are based on, these huge SUVs never look very different or drastically new from one generation to another.
The same thing goes for the Cadillac Escalade. Which is saddled with the constant burden of trying very hard to look different and more expensive than the Chevrolet Tahoe and the GMC Yukon. The Lincoln Navigator has a similar problem with the Ford Expedition since a loaded Expedition is probably very similar to the Navigator.
That’s probably why Lincoln and Cadillac are so quick to embrace the weird “door-to-door” screen craze coming from China. Something they will never put in a Chevy or a Ford.
The illustration above shows what a cleaner and more modern Lincoln Navigator could look like, without being overly futuristic. it wouldn’t be too much to ask in 2025…
Of course, the current Navigator is also behind its competition in the powertrain department. The electric Cadillac Escalade IQ will probably become the newest millionaire toy when it becomes available, and the Range Rover EV isn’t far behind. While Lincoln doesn’t offer any type of electrification at all.
Sales were down to around 13,000 in 2022 and picked up a bit last year to reach 17,500. While GM sold almost 42,000 units of the Escalade last year. And that’s without counting the upcoming Escalade IQ.
Once again it looks like the Navigator will be left behind in a bad way.
Maybe it’s time for something different…
Everyone is coming out with these same black A pillars from the Land Rover silhouette.
