Cadillac EV pickup.

This is what is scientifically referred to as: “a no brainer”. A Cadillac version of the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra EV would be an obvious move for GM’s luxury brand.
So obvious that I cannot really see it not happening soon. Cadillac already has the new Escalade IQ. A longer version of the IQ is also coming soon. The Silverado EV has been getting great reviews. people are spending more and more money on luxury pickups every year. Many are already well over $100,000. Everything is there for something like this to happen.
It wouldn’t be the first time either. Cadillac started offering an “EXT” pickup version of the Escalade starting with the second generation in 2001. A second-generation EXT based on the 3rd generation escalade was produced in 2013.
As usual, sales started pretty well with over 13,000 units sold in 2002. But trickled down to under 2000 by 2013.
However, sales of the Escalade went from 12,600 in 2013 to over 41,000 last year. Currently, a GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate can easily reach around $100,000. The Escalade IQ starts at $128,000. A GMC Sierra EV grows from around $92,000 to over $106,000. Not only are these are big ticket items, but also bit profit machines.
A Cadillac EV pickup starting at over $100,000 would have no problem finding an audience and more importantly, making money for GM.
The illustration above shows a pretty conservative and boring design idea for an electric Cadillac pickup. Just like the Escalade IQ and most Cadillac SUVs these days. The truck market is a pretty conservative one and Cadillac wouldn’t come up with anything crazy. (No, the Cybertruck doesn’t count since it is mostly for Tesla fans and show-offs. Not “truck people”)
Something like this would be perfect for conquering the famously rough and steep terrain above Beverly Hills. Like a slightly elevated driveway or a pothole on a curvy Bel Air road.
I’d really love to see Chevrolet (or maybe Chrysler/Dodge, if they survive) take a chance on mutating a new gasoline engine car into an El Camino type pickup. Maybe with a different name.
